Todays walk took us up above Rydal Hall today to visit Buckstones Jum or jump depending on which map you are looking at. It’s very popular with wild swimmers which we are not but did have to resort to removing our boots to cross Rydal Beck having underestimated how much rain we had yesterday. Today was perfect weather with very good visibility.

As many of our Facebook Followers know we don't normally offer short break lettings at the lodge. We have however been left with a Saturday - Tuesday break in September and wondered if any of you would be interested in Saturday 19th - Tuesday 22nd September 2026.

This short break is only available to our social media followers, whether you be regulars at the lodge, or follow us online and haven't yet booked but a short break would be right up your street.

These 2 videos were taken at 10.20pm during the recent hot weather and this was a nightly occurrence during our recent stay. The background electronic noise is our bat detector listening out for the bats sonar. The detector told us these were pipistrelle bats and we estimated about 5 or 6 each time. They are incredibly agile and it was lovely to not only see them performing their aerial acrobatics but also to hear them.

Just letting people know that our booking system for 2027 is now live and we have already had a number of weeks booked so if you are looking for a particular week please take a look. Please note that we have decided to limit the number of guests in Robinsons to a maximum of 4, as we feel it then gives more storage space for people to utilise the bunk room for bags and rucksack storage.

Perfect weather for our epic 4 Wainwright hike today. We started at Raven Crag then carried onto High Seat, High Tove and finished with Armboth Fell.

It must be a day for owl spotting today as we were lucky enough to spot this Tawny Owl whilst out for a walk with Heather who many will know as the friendly lady who manages your bookings at Robinsons Tarn.

This just came up as a memory from this day in 2023 and we felt it was too good not to share again. If you keep watching you will see there are actually 3 Owlets in the nest. You can also hear the woodpecker in the background.
