Say hello to Playtime Padel, opening at Barking Riverside this September 🎾

Coming to our Northgate neighbourhood, Playtime Padel will be bringing a brand-new pop-up space for sport, socials and more. After establishing padel in locations across London and Essex, including Battersea, Tooting, Brentwood and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Playtime Padel’s next location is Barking Riverside.

Their pop-up will bring:
🎾 A padel court, with free introductory sessions
🏓 Free table tennis
♟️ Free chess
🙌 Free equipment hire

Playtime Padel will be located on Northgate Road, near The Wilds.

Will you take the plunge? 🔥🧊

Back by popular demand, Emerge East’s pop-up sauna experience returns this September - this time in Station Gardens.

Curated by Sauna Master UK, expect deep heat, cold contrast and plenty of steam, with trained sauna experts guiding you through the experience. Sessions will also include elements of traditional sauna practice, from leaf whisking and to speciality body treatments.

Sauna sessions are £12 and must be booked separately via Eventbrite. Spaces are limited, with a small number of walk-up slots available on the day.

Like the sound of a free day of live music in East London? 🎧

Emerge East returns to Barking Riverside on Saturday 12th September, with The Block Party stage bringing high-energy to Project Road from 11am.

As well as our headline act, DJ AG, and the One Room takeover, this year’s lineup includes Mak 10, Glade Marie, RAIDAA and Donnie Sunshine, taking you through UK garage, R&B, soul, afro house, amapiano and more!

Capital XTRA's Rob Bruce will also be back to host The Block Party for a second year.

Emerge East is completely free to attend, but you can register on Eventbrite for all the latest updates and event information.

Working with HemingwayDesign, Barking Riverside is looking to commission an artist to create new artworks inspired by two historic navigational beacons on the Thames Foreshore.

The artworks will form part of a new wayfinding and interpretation system for the Foreshore, helping residents and visitors engage with its heritage and ecology.

We’re looking for artists and creatives who can:

- Respond to the beacons’ maritime and industrial heritage
- Engage with the Foreshore’s ecology
- Work with the local community through co-design

A quick update for anyone who has been temporarily using the car park next to the former L&Q Marketing Suite, near The Wilds 🚗

From Sunday 30th August, the car park will be closed as work gets underway to transform the space into something exciting.

Please make sure all vehicles are removed by Friday 28 August so that work can begin promptly. We apologise for any disruption this may cause.

The space is set to become home to a new pop-up, responding to feedback from residents about bringing more local amenities to Barking Riverside. While we can’t reveal all the details just yet, we’ll be sharing more over the coming weeks 👀

Thank you for your patience while these works take place – we think it’ll be worth the wait.

Emerge East is putting Barking Riverside’s local makers, chefs, artists and creatives in the spotlight this September.

Over in Station Square, the local Makers’ Market will bring together traders, small businesses and independent makers, with everything from jewellery and homeware to books, gifts and wellness products to discover ✨

At the Home Cooks: A Taste of Barking Riverside, residents will become street food chefs for the day, serving up family recipes and dishes that reflect the neighbourhood’s many cultures. Expect delicious home-cooked food made with stories, traditions and plenty of personality.
