Great to see our apprentice carpenter Johnny Lucas progressing so well and showing a genuine commitment to his new trade.

Johnny spent several months in the roofing industry before joining our team as a labourer. His strong work ethic was quickly recognised by our site management team who put him forward for a Level 2 carpentry apprenticeship, which he began last year.

Johnny’s already proven to be a valuable team member and we look forward to supporting him as he continues to build his skills and knowledge in our workshop.

Today we’re looking back at this home refurbishment and extension project in Fulham, featuring a vast range of bespoke joinery, delivered by our in-house team.

Working for a private client, we transformed the property’s interior with high-end finishes and added extra space by constructing a rear extension and converting both the roof space and basement.

The joinery created stunning bedroom furniture, storage space and doors as well as period detailing such as wall panelling.

Renovating a period property is both rewarding and challenging. Combining old with new can be a tricky balancing act for all those involved, requiring specialist skills and knowledge.

To smooth the process, it’s important to:

~ Research permissions early: listed buildings and conservation areas come with specific rules
~ Appoint a specialist project team: source both an architect and contractor with experience in heritage renovation and materials
~ Build in extra time to minimise risks: investigative work upfront saves costly surprises later
~ Repair rather than replace where possible: skilled joiners can match original profiles for doors, windows and skirtings
~ Get energy advice early: thermal efficiency requirements and heritage standards don't always align.

The striking design combines a range of features that are perfect for socialising, relaxation and family time.

Highlights include:

~ A slate wall with a water feature surrounded by Japanese-style flora
~ A large flower bed with Japanese plants

We’re on site in Islington kickstarting a new six-month project to renovate a listed Georgian townhouse.

Our team will reconfigure the ground floor and construct a timber-framed extension with full-height glazing. We’ll replace the slate roof and fully refurbish the interior, including a new kitchen and master bathroom.

As thermal performance and comfort are key, we’ll also be lowering the ground floor slab and installing aerogel insulation - an ultra-thin material that maximises energy efficiency without compromising space or altering the building’s fabric.

Additional upgrades include a Newton Waterproofing tanking system in the basement, installed by our in-house waterproofing specialists.

Here’s a further peek at our recent renovation of a Maida Vale garden flat.

We’ve completely transformed the property inside and out, including reconfigurations, a custom-made kitchen, new bathrooms, extensive joinery, and energy efficiency improvements.

🪟Single-glazed windows and doors were replaced with double-glazed timber-framed units, which were profiled and carefully constructed to match the originals.

Externally, the project included extensive repaving and structural works. The entire building envelope was stabilised and painstakingly re-rendered with ashlar lined lime render. A failing four-metre-high retaining wall was also repaired, and an existing concrete staircase reconfigured and reclad in Portland stone complete with a new handrail.

☀️As we feel the warmth of springtime sun, we’re looking back at a project that brought the outside in.

We converted a former listed nursery, located in a conservation area in Blackheath, into a luxury family home.

The property was extended at the side and rear, creating a huge open-plan kitchen with bifold doors that open onto an impressive, landscaped lawn.

🏋️Opposite the house, we built a gym with fantastic views across the garden, providing a motivational space for working out.

The transformation involved a full internal refurbishment, including an M&E package, all delivered by our team.

🔦Project spotlight: Georgian property transformation

Working in partnership with architects Corstorphine & Wright, we refurbished this 300-year-old property located in a conservation area in Hampstead Heath.

The dated exterior was replaced with a brick façade, featuring curved roof lines across three levels.

Internally, all areas were reconfigured and new fittings installed, including a Scandinavian-style kitchen from Sola.

The bedrooms benefit from fitted wardrobes created by our inhouse joinery team. These were designed to match a bespoke staircase manufactured off site by K&D Joinery and complemented by timber flooring by Dinesen.

💡We also delivered a range of improvements to enhance energy efficiency, bringing the home up to the Passivhaus standard with an EPC A rating.
