CRACKS TELL A STORY. 🧱

A recent defect investigation started with a simple question: what was causing the cracking?

Previous investigations hadn’t identified a clear cause. During our inspection, we identified a combination of hairline cracking, white staining, bulging at the base of the walls and vertical cracking to an extension.

When we considered these defects alongside the property’s history of high moisture levels, the evidence pointed towards sulphate attack.

It’s a good example of why defect surveys need to look beyond the crack itself. The pattern, construction, moisture levels and history of a property can all provide important clues.

Sometimes, the crack is just the start of the story.

🚗💦 A very wet but very successful charity car wash!

Last Sunday was a little wetter than we’d hoped, but that didn’t stop us getting stuck in. We were kept busy throughout the day and were incredibly grateful for the generosity of everyone who came along and donated.

It was great to see the team working together outside of the usual day job, having a bit of fun and raising money for a great cause. We even managed a well-earned celebration drink at the end! 🍻

A huge thank you to Joe at The New Inn and Impeccable Taste Catering for their generous donations and contribution to the day.

A huge congratulations to Will Holmes on graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in Building Surveying. 🎓

Will joined Honeywell almost two years ago, and during that time he’s grown alongside the business, becoming a valued member of the team and making a real difference every step of the way.

His hard work, commitment and willingness to learn have already made him an excellent surveyor, and this achievement is another milestone in what we know will be a long and successful career.

Meet Cecilia 👋

With a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Sheffield, a DEA qualification, and ongoing studies towards the SAVA Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation, Cecilia brings enthusiasm, technical knowledge, and a genuine passion for buildings to the team.

Inspired by researching and renovating her own home, Cecilia enjoys understanding how properties are built and uncovering the stories behind them. She is currently busy undertaking stock condition surveys, EPC assessments, and housing inspections across ongoing survey programmes.

When she's not out surveying, you'll find her travelling, cooking, or enjoying the countryside with family and friends.
