Spotlight on another Community Support Scheme Project

North Devon District Scouts needed an updated fire risk assessment for their campsite at Snapper in North Devon. Boden arranged for Junior Project Manager and qualified Fire Risk Assessor, Ollie, to attend the campsite to undertake a comprehensive review of the site, its facilities, and associated fire risks. Once complete, Ollie returned to the office and produced a detailed Fire Safety Risk Assessment which we then provided to the Scouts.

When speaking about the opportunity to be involved with a Community Support Scheme project and to be part of Boden’s efforts to give back to the community, Ollie said “As someone who used to visit the site when I was younger it was great to see the site was still so well looked after and that the Scouts work hard to keep it clean and ready for any camp attendees. It felt great to help out the Scouts as it’s nice to support the communities you were involved in when you were younger.”

Mark from North Devon District Scouts commented “We appreciate the support of a professional local company like Boden helping us to ensure our volunteers time is used most effectively by taking on tasks such as this which, while important, do not represent our core focus.”

This is a South West-based role, and candidates can be based anywhere between Plymouth and Weston-super-Mare. The role will involve working across the South West and South East.

Catriona is Boden's Operations Service Manager and has been at Boden for over 5 years.

She is a key member of our Operations Team, managing a team of Works Coordinators and Administrators, and generally ensuring all works are delivered in line with client requirements.

This month we asked Catriona to share a bit about her experience at Boden, and she described the culture as being collaborative, innovative and fast paced.

Our OOHs service is a core component of our service delivery and something we provide to a number of clients.

Through our engineer call out schedule and CAFM system, we operate an OOHs service which operates in line with client specific SLAs, ensuring service delivery matches each client's specific requirements.

Our operative locations mean that we can provide support across the entirety of the Southwest, and our OOHs call out rota ensures that there are always operatives of various trades on call at any one time. In line with our commitment to continuous improvement, we are working to cross skill engineers, ensuring our team can respond to a wide range of client needs.

New photography and a refreshed look

We recently worked with Panoptic Motion to refresh our corporate photography and we are really pleased with the results.

Panoptic were great to work with from start to finish, making even our most nervous colleagues feel completely at ease, and even making the experience fun.

The photos reflect who Boden are. We know it's the people who make the difference, who provide the excellent service to clients and who strive day in and day out to ensure we're the best that we can be, and so showcasing the people behind the brand just made sense.

A new community project completed, and this one's particularly close to our hearts.

Boden recently completed a lighting project for Eden Park Primary School in Barnstaple, converting the old, broken MUGA lights to new LEDs.

There are a few reasons why this project is extra special to Boden. Firstly, it was the very first project we agreed to support, before the Community Support Scheme was even launched and back when we were looking for test projects. Secondly, for us, this project exemplifies what our Community Support Scheme is all about, as it has allowed us to have a massive community impact, assisting not only the school and students, but also the Scouts who first brought the project to us and their members, as well as other community groups who can now use the school facilities and MUGA to bring more activities into the area for local people.

This project really shows how providing a little support can have such a big, positive impact.

Our Boden Voice this month is our Electrical Apprentice Ollie. Ollie joined Boden in August 2024 as part of our Mobile Team.

We asked Ollie what he enjoys most about his role and being a part of Boden.

Ollie is one of five apprentices employed across our business as part of our commitment to developing the next generation of talent and assisting young people into new roles and trades.

Another Community Support Scheme project successfully delivered.

We received a request from Bideford and District Sea Cadets to assist with their PAT testing to help ensure that their electrical items remained safe and compliant.

To fulfil this project, we sent one of our colleagues to their site for two evenings to get everything tested in line with the renewal dates.

The Cadets were very grateful for the support, commenting that it allowed the continued use of the facilities by several local community groups.
