Starting our day on water! 🚣‍♀️⚓️🌊

We set out with Barnstaple Pilot Gig Club to try our hand on board these six-oared boats called ‘gigs’. Originating in 18th Century Cornwall, these boats were originally used by naval pilots to reach ships to aid in docking, as lifeboats and even by smugglers. 🏴‍☠️

A thrilling way to see North Devon from a different perspective along the calm waters of the River Taw.

We are delighted to share that we have received planning approval for a new headquarters and manufacturing facility for in the heart of North Devon.

This ambitious project involves the transformation of an existing warehouse into a world-class facility, adding 945sqm of new-build space alongside the refurbished building.

The proposal is a thermally efficient, contemporary workplace with features such as MVHR, 230sqm of PV panels and commuter facilities, all contributing to a healthy, low-impact environment for their team.

We at PMA are excited to be involved in this fantastic project, helping to cement North Devon's position as a centre for enterprise and excellence.

More details to follow as we start on site with this exciting build in the coming months!

The PMA team explored London's architectural gems at this year's Open House Festival, an annual event that opens up the city's most interesting buildings for everyone to explore. From historic civic buildings to innovative affordable housing and creative community spaces, we were inspired by how design shapes lives and neighbourhoods.

We are bringing ideas back to North Devon to inform our own projects and continue designing spaces that matter.

Exciting times at Jackdaw Barn where we have been working with to create an amazing property for our clients.

Working with existing barns always presents an interesting opportunity to maintain the rural character whilst working towards an environment fit for contemporary living requirements.

At PMA we pride ourselves in utilising innovative solutions, one such on this project is the use of Diasen Diathonite Thermactive supplied by . The product is a lime and cork based insulating plaster that works with the existing fabric, allowing it to breathe all the while providing the necessary thermal values to transform the inside of the barn to a comfortable living environment. No VOC off gassing, no condensation risk, natural materials and character maintained. We can’t wait to see this one completed!

We are thrilled to share that our Big Meadow Barn project has been granted planning approval!

This will transform a redundant rural barn into a stunning detached family home with original stonework walls and tweaking of the roof trusses to maximise the vaulted ceilings and introduce an upper level throughout.

PMA utilised policy DM27 to gain support from North Devon Council for the scheme, which allows for sympathetic refurbishment and change of use of rural buildings no longer being used for their original purpose. Enquire with us today if you have a building you think could have similar planning potential.
