Starting our day on water! 🚣♀️⚓️🌊
We set out with Barnstaple Pilot Gig Club to try our hand on board these six-oared boats called ‘gigs’. Originating in 18th Century Cornwall, these boats were originally used by naval pilots to reach ships to aid in docking, as lifeboats and even by smugglers. 🏴☠️
A thrilling way to see North Devon from a different perspective along the calm waters of the River Taw.
