Swallows Roost is an ideal base to explore Devon, Somerset and Exmoor. We welcome Dog owners, walkers, cyclists or couples wanting a romantic break. Enjoy a relaxing break with great scenery perfectly suited to photographers, artists or those that just wish to be away from it all. A Tumulas (Medieval burial mound) is located in the field next to us and the site of an old Medieval village can be seen across the valley.

The perfect place to sit for a morning cup of tea or maybe an evening glass of wine while the sun sets. With lovely views over the valley towards the hills beyond, you can enjoy the tranquility of listening to the birds sing and watching the wildlife go by.

Guess what! You don’t have to own a dog to stay here!
We know some of our previous guests to Babbling Brook sadly no longer have a dog, but you are welcome to come and stay at Swallows Roost with or without a dog.

North Devon is very dog friendly and can be taken to most places but there are a few places to visit, or activities you may not have been able to both do when you had a dog with you.
• A day trip to Lundy Island or a boat trip around the coast line to see the seals.
• A day out at Exmoor Zoo or the Combe Martin Wildlife Park
• Kayaking at Combe Martin, Quad Biking at Mullacott or Horse Riding on Exmoor.

So even if you are without a canine companion at the moment, why not give us a visit and try some of these out or just chill out, listen to the birds singing and escape from daily life for a few days.

Are you a shower person or a bath person? 🤔
At Swallows Roost you have the choice of either!
Enjoy an evening soak in the bath after a long walk on the moors or if you prefer - wake yourself up in the morning with a refreshing soak under the rain shower before you head out for a stroll on the beach.
Not keen on rain showers? You also get the option of a normal shower head too. The walk in shower is a massive 1500x 900 so no feeling cramped inside the enclosure.

Having lived in a caravan for the last 2 1/2 years with only a tiny shower, that bubble bath had my name written all over it. Well it would have been a waste to just let all that water out the plug hole after the photo shoot without testing it out 😆. Yep, it was lovely and I soon looked just like that highland cattle on the wall.
