Tidy!
Rob Brydon has been talking about the fact that Uncle Bryn’s house is now available for Gavin & Stacey fans to actually stay in as an Airbnb.
The real house on Trinity Street has been bought by hosts Jaxx and Tom, who have renamed it Gone Fishin’ and recreated it to look as much like Bryn’s home from the series as possible, complete with little details and Easter eggs that fans will recognise.
Rob clearly knows exactly what they have done with it too. Appearing on This Morning, he said:
“Bryn’s house in Trinity street is now an Airbnb, and do you remember the episode where Bryn has made a gym upstairs and James is on the floor, Smithy, and I’m stretching him out.
“They’ve put the gym so you could go there and he goes ‘I know, I know how you feel Smithy. You can’t go around it. You can’t go over it. So what have you got to do?’ He goes ‘Oh, I’ve got to push through it, Bryn.’ ‘You’ve got to go through it.’
“So yeah, you can actually go and spend the weekend in Bryn’s house.”
The owners have said they wanted to create the full “Uncle Bryn experience”, taking inspiration from Bryn’s Bachelor Paradise and even recreating the gym upstairs.
Jaxx explained:
“We’re recreating Uncle Bryn’s house as fans will remember it from ‘Bryn’s Bachelor Paradise’ – Series 3, Episode 3, when the boys stay over. Gym and all, plus loads of little touches you’ll recognise from the show. We’ve even hidden a few Easter eggs that only the true super-fans will spot. We can’t wait to welcome guests through the door”
Rob also spoke about just how much Gavin & Stacey has grown in people’s affections over the years.
He said:
“You can tell what it means to people. It’s the love people have for it, and in all these years when it was off, before it came back the first time. It just got bigger so that when we came back, it was a much a bigger show than it was when we stopped filming.
“Then that first special went down a storm, and the last special was just such a great piece of writing.”
For Gavin & Stacey fans, actually being able to spend the weekend in Bryn’s house is quite something.
