Green belt as a concept was devised to stop urban sprawl and to ensure people in towns had access to green space - countryside (like ours shown). If we keep allowing developers to build on it: there will be none left. Sounds obvious, doesn’t it? But in the blind thrust for monetary gain, our countryside is being sacrificed each month by the government planning inspectorate who overturn the decisions of local councils … and protected green belt gets built on

An old story with current ramifications 😞

John Bloor, 77, handed £150,000 to the Conservative Party, shortly after ministers backed the finding of an independent planning inspector over 625 homes

On Wednesday 19th April 2023, we spoke out vehemently as local residents against a wholly unsuitable build on green belt adjacent to our homes. Local Basildon councillors were with us and agreed that the build was not acceptable: our councillors stood up for the well-being and future of our community and rejected Bloor’s proposal.
However, Bloor Homes will now appeal to the Planning Inspectorate at central government and could have our councillors’ decision overturned. (Very probable when Bloor recently donated £1 million to the Tory party)
We want to raise awareness on a larger scale: we want, in some small way, to strike back at large-corporate companies who place profit over people, community, health and well-being.
We need our local councillors to now make their objections water-tight. We need the grave concerns over air pollution, road traffic, noise pollution, lack of amenities etc to be put as a compelling case for when it’s reviewed by the Planning Inspectorate.
Please: share our page: follow us: raise awareness of our issue: lend your advice: share your own experiences: stand with us: help send a message that small communities can do huge things.
