The beautiful Keeper’s Cottage, also known as Park Cottages. Constructed in 1831, these paired two-story cottages were originally designed to serve as residences for The Royal Victoria Park’s keepers. The architectural style is ‘Picturesque Gothic,’ a design choice that adds to the charm and historical significance of the park. 

In August 1975, the cottages were designated as Grade II* listed buildings, recognizing their exceptional interest and national importance. This listing helps preserve their unique architectural and historical character. 

The cottages are located just inside the park near Marlborough Buildings, making them a prominent feature for visitors entering from that direction. 

Over time, the two separate cottages have been combined into a single residence. An aviary is situated nearby, adding to the picturesque setting of the property within the park’s landscape.

Residential property has long been the investment choice for many in the UK, but as original buy-to-let landlords near retirement, a new generation must step up to meet the future demand for rental homes.

The average age of an 'aspirational portfolio landlord' (landlords with between one and three properties who expressed a desire to growth their portfolios) is 37.8, with the highest proportion aged between 25 and 34 (35%).

Family and friends with an existing property business were a key motivator for 43% of next-generation portfolio landlords to become landlords, followed by a desire to create long-term rental income.
With a well documented supply shortage, 60% are investing in property because of the long-term demand for rental homes.

Absolute highlight was the ‘Reshaping the Workplace’ session with these inspirational women - Anita Jaynes, Founder of your speech was heartfelt and powerful, Lynne Fernquest (), Kate Abbey (), Lizzie Heffer () together with the event host Ali Vowles. Five incredible and incredibly powerful women.

It was a pleasure talking to the Bath community radio champions Steve Fountain and Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst at and hopefully more to come on that!

Chatting to Kevin Peake at was absolutely fascinating and I shall follow up on my promise to be in touch and see if there is any way that I could get involved. What a fantastic organisation with so much to give to Bath and its youth (and future entrepreneurs).

Last but not least, what a great ‘Community Purpose’ session with the inspirational community-first landlady of the well-known and loved pub in Bath Eleanor Gill, Bryn Williams at , who talked about the importance of creating a family environment within a team, the charismatic venue manager at another wonderfully community-centric place in Bath , Andy Hawkins who talked about -Corp certification and how to engage the serious offenders in our industries althewhile certifying and rewarding the ‘good guys’ of which Steve Butterworth at the fantastic charity-led is one.

A huge shout out to the who made this a success. Claire for the thoughtful photography, Emma .fig.bath for the heavenly, beautifully presented spreads, Holly for the delicious, locally distilled gin, Zoe for the yummy Greek dips and sauces and last but not least, Vanessa for my fabulous new hairstyle!

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Fiona and hearing about her journey opening a new business in Bath, Annie at and hearing about the exciting new illustrations she’s doing, Rose who does fantastic school trips and parties on the farm, which I’ll hope to be able to help bring to an even wider audience, Jess who absolutely fascinated me with her entrepreneurial energy, Grace who very much fit the theme of the event - yoga by and for mums and the talented cook and published author Dr Simi Rezai whose introduction I owe to my good friend Slavenka - always a delight to see you gorgeous lady with fiery hair. The fantastic Jenny and the creative drive behind .com Wonderful to see you both!
