As working from home became more than just a passing pandemic phase, many of us have spent time creating our designated workspace. This entailed choosing the perfect desk, picking out a comfortable work chair, and decorating.
As the months have gone by, that once perfectly designed workspace has become cluttered with the usual paraphernalia of the daily workday.
Here are 5 tips to declutter your workspace:
1. Remove Everything and Start From Scratch
Remove everything from the area. Take this opportunity to clean down all the cleared surfaces. Place everything in neat piles on the floor.
2. Sort Paperwork into Categorise & Reduce
Sort all your paperwork into piles of different categories, you might have different sections for each of your main clients or sort things between areas like marketing and finance. Work through each pile and remove anything that can be recycled or shredded.
3. Create a Storage System
Put anything that needs to be actioned into the letter tray, which is easily accessible. Organise other papers into a physical storage system, this may be a small filing cabinet or simply a few folders in a drawer or on a shelf.
4. Label Everything
This makes things easy to find quickly. Make sure they are easy to read and see from your workspace.
5. Clean Up Daily
At the end of the day, schedule in a couple of minutes to organise and tidy your workspace, this will save time in the long run and maintain a calm workspace to return to each morning.
