Townsend Enterprise Park is registered as a company limited by guarantee in Northern Ireland (No 20329) and is registered as a charity for tax purposes with the Inland Revenue (No XR 93502). Since the company was founded in 1987, the Directors have been guided by an ethos of service to the community, which has been embraced by all serving and former board members. Townsend Enterprise Park was esta

blished by local churchmen and professional people, who recognised the need for such a venture as a means of creating new opportunities, stretching the imagination and promoting peace and reconciliation within the local community. Since it’s establishment, the company has steadily and quietly expanded and matured into the successful organisation it is today, as one of the top enterprise agencies in Northern Ireland. This collective ambition to create an enterprise park in this particular area, as a means of raising it’s profile and encouraging peace and reconciliation, really took off in 1987, when Phase One opened with 35,000 sq. The success of this venture became evident in 1995 when expansion became necessary and Phase Two of the Park was completed, accommodating a further 15-20 businesses and creating employment for a further 250 people. Today the success of Townsend Enterprise Park is highlighted in the fact that the business has an 85% occupancy rate, catering for 37 small/medium sized businesses which employ just under 300 people on the site.

40 weeks.

That's all that stands between today and a very special milestone for Townsend Enterprise Park.

In March 2027, we'll celebrate 40 years of supporting businesses, creating opportunities and investing back into our community.

Over the coming months we'll be sharing the stories, people and history that have shaped Townsend into what it is today — from the industrial pioneers who helped build Belfast's reputation for innovation, to the 46 thriving businesses that now call Townsend home.

As part of our campaign, we'll be shining a light on the makers, creators, entrepreneurs and community champions who continue to write the next chapter of this remarkable story.

40 years of enterprise.
40 years of community.
40 years of making a difference.

Join us as we count down to March 2027.

Ever wondered what a day in the life of the CEO of Townsend Enterprise Park looks like?

Meet Margaret Patterson McMahon.

For Margaret, no two days are ever the same. One minute she's meeting with tenants, discussing new opportunities and supporting local businesses, the next she's planning community initiatives, overseeing projects or helping shape the future of Townsend.

What makes Townsend different is that it's more than just a business park. It's a social enterprise with a simple philosophy:

"Our success is the businesses' success."

For almost 40 years, Townsend has been creating opportunities, supporting entrepreneurs and reinvesting back into the local community. Today, it is home to 46 thriving businesses and organisations, all contributing to the economic and social fabric of West Belfast.

As we continue our countdown to our 40th anniversary, we're taking you behind the scenes to meet some of the people helping write the next chapter of the Townsend story.

Today, it's Margaret's turn.

MEET THE ARTIST | IMOGEN DONEGAN

We're delighted to introduce the talented artist behind Townsend Enterprise Park's striking new mural, Imogen Donegan.

Based in Bangor, Imogen is a visual artist specialising in printmaking and illustration.

Her work explores themes of nature, community and the often-overlooked stories that surround us. Using texture, colour and playful design, Imogen creates artwork that invites people to pause, connect and look a little closer.

Over the past year, Imogen has been developing her street art practice across Northern Ireland, bringing her distinctive style to larger public spaces like Townsend and telling stories through murals that celebrate place, people and heritage.

Imogen’s work at Townsend Enterprise Park is a powerful tribute to the historic Soho Foundry, the Farset River and the generations of workers who helped shape this part of Belfast.

👀 Keep your eyes peeled this week as we'll be sharing an exclusive interview with Imogen, where she'll reveal the inspiration behind the mural, the hidden symbolism within the artwork and why this project means so much to her.

Let's Hear From Our CEO, Margaret Patterson McMahon

"This mural is far more than a piece of public art. It tells the real story of this place."

For Margaret, this artwork represents the generations of people who built, worked and created opportunities here long before Townsend Street became known for its political history. It celebrates the workers of the historic Soho Foundry, the spirit of enterprise that shaped West Belfast, and the shared endeavour that brought communities together through industry and craftsmanship.
As Townsend Enterprise Park continues to grow as a hub for business, creativity and innovation, this mural serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience, ambition and community spirit that has always existed here.

Margaret shares why this project means so much to Townsend Enterprise Park, the stories hidden within the artwork, and why understanding our past can help inspire our future.

HAVE YOU SPOTTED OUR NEW WALL ART?

A powerful new mural has arrived at Townsend Enterprise Park, celebrating the people, industry and shared history that helped shape this part of Belfast.

Created by local artist Imogen Donegan, the artwork pays tribute to the historic Soho Foundry and the generations of workers from the Falls and Shankill communities who worked side-by-side, building not only engineering excellence, but livelihoods, friendships and a shared future.

Rich in symbolism, the mural features foundry workers, the flowing Farset River, water mills and industrial cogs, all woven together to tell the story of a place built on innovation, craftsmanship and resilience.

Today, Townsend Enterprise Park is home to 46 thriving businesses, continuing a proud tradition of enterprise, creativity and opportunity in West Belfast. This mural is more than public art - it is a celebration of where we've come from and a statement of belief in where we're going.

👀 Keep your eyes peeled this week as we'll be sharing exclusive interviews with artist Imogen Donegan and Townsend Enterprise Park CEO Margaret Patterson McMahon, who reveal the inspiration, symbolism and powerful stories behind the artwork.
