Woodland Therapy for Dementia
The Forestry Commission has piloted Woodland Therapy for people with early-stage dementia — three hours of woodland-based activities each week over 12 weeks.
Results? Improved wellbeing, confidence, and connection with others.
Projects like Stepping into Nature in Dorset go further — using RSPB nature reserves to offer dementia-friendly, sensory-rich visits for people pre- and post-diagnosis, plus their carers.
With the right design, woodlands and care work together to improve lives.
