We offer a number of family holiday apartments within Moreton House. Our Kingsley suite is the largest of our two-bedroom suites. There's loads of room. Both bedrooms are ensuite, with large king beds (one four-poster, the other a sleighbed) and a spare single daybed if needed. There are big walk in showers, that are suitable for wheelchair access (we have a shower chair if needed) and a double ended bath. The master bedroom has its own lounge space with fireplace. The open plan kitchen/dining/lounge space is fully equipped. It can be set up with a larger table if holidaying with a bigger group using other suites. French doors lead onto a private deck with BBQ, firepit and seating under a plant-covered pergola.
It was built in the rooms that used to be used by the housekeeper, housemaids, washrooms and the old servants' hall, and named after Mr Kingsley, the butler at the time this part of the house was built. It's time to grab your popcorn and head to the cinema. THE SALT PATH - the film inspired by the moving memoire by Raynor Winn, is released today. It stars Gillian Anderson, Jason Isaacs and the Southwest Coast Path. The story is based on the true story of a couple facing debt, homelessness and a potentially terminal diagnosis, and so set off on a life-changing 630-mile walk from Minehead to Poole.

Hopefully the film will inspire more visitors to enjoy the path. From Moreton House, it's a short walk to the path at Abbotsham Cliffs, with spectacular views over Lundy. A short drive would allow a series of day walks taking in the section of the path from Combe Martin to Bude, offering some of the most challenging and varied of the trail. There are rugged cliffs, golden sands, idyllic fishing villages, ancient woodlands, wild goats, seals, and spectacular views.

We are proud supporters of the SWCP Association, as a Waymaker business, featured in the guide as an accommodation provider. Walking the path doesn't have to mean uncomfortable camping. We are happy to help walkers plan their itineraries and parking spots to make the most of the North Devon section of this amazing coastal path.

If you seek a venue for a private dinner or celebration, we are happy to help you arrange a chef, buffet, BBQ or afternoon tea for groups of any size up to around 72 guests. Available for hire with or without accommodation. Choice of rooms with different features - relax afterwards in our club lounge with snooker and table footy, stock your own bar, spill out into the gardens for a game of croquet, or a fire pit, or discover our play room.

It's with real sadness that we mark the third anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. Our hearts break for the people whose lives have been turned upside down. Here at Moreton we have hosted many Ukrainian visitors, some studying, some families relocating, under the homes from Ukraine scheme - we do have a lot of spare bedrooms! Also when we retired the Moreton truck last year, we sent it back with one of those visitors, filled (by Rotary and other donors) with medicines and other supplies. It went to a particular brigade who gave it a paint job, and put it to work, mostly rescuing civilians caught in conflict zones. We recently heard it had retired permanently RIP. Let's hope with all our hearts that such help will not be needed for much longer. To our Ukrainian friends 💔🇺🇦

A history of wall colours in one image. Lime plaster covered with what looks like mauve then powder blue and later pink lime wash or distemper. The pink lay over a fake painted dado rail in dark brown, with deep maroon below. After that the paper and acrylics start, with terracotta, then yellow patterned wallpaper, over painted with more yellow and a wallpaper border, then more paint. We covered the lot with a dark green, but are now stripping back before we paint again. Think dark snug library vibes. Coming soon!
