It's been the longest time getting up and running again, but much progress has been made in the past few days.
Thank you Sean Bergin for your amazing help today. Much strimming, mowing and tidying up done today.
Picked some strawberries today, oh my word, such a strong smell of strawberry , yummy. Kale is doing well
Next is putting together some no dig beds then lots of planting. I know it's late but there is still time.

I need some volunteers to help plant some willows and a fruit tree or two.
I lost both my pomegranate trees and a Victoria plum, so if anyone has any spare they would be given a good home 😁

I cannot do this project on my own, volunteers desperately needed for big jobs and small ones.

Good Morning everyone. Horrific weather, then Covid followed by long Covid really stopped play at The Plot.
No wind and sunshine today, so I'm going to venture up there for a look see. I know there is a lot of work to be done, so volunteers are urgently needed to help create no dig beds and do some planting. Give me a shout if you would like to spare an hour or two at The Plot. Love and flowers to you all πŸ˜πŸ’πŸ˜πŸ’

I have the lurgy so am too poorly to go to the plot to see what havoc has been wreaked by the storm. Will try and venture up there tomorrow. I have so much planting to do can't afford this time away.

Delighted to report shed roof is on. Thank you so much Steve Ellison and volunteer Frank. Doors next week hopefully. Something had a good old dig and scrabble in the big round bed and dug up all the rocket and ate the tops off the garlic 😭
Luckily I blagged some netting off Facebook a while ago, so was able to net all 3 beds today. I shall check the trailcam for the culprit 😁
Acquired a delightful trailer for my garden tractor today. That is going to be so helpful.
Everything is growing so well. The kale is ready for picking πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
Just checked trailcam no culprit visible πŸ™„

Whoop whoop the 75 Saffron crocuses have arrived. Onion sets will be here tomorrow. Had to order online as none available in the local shops.
Thanks to a few dry days and a moderate breeze, the plot is drying out nicely 😁😁😁 so planting frenzy it is then

What a week. Non stop rain, soggy ground, shed still not finished, raised beds not completed.
I have 75 Saffron crocuses arriving this week. Trail camera has arrived.
Yesterday was given a wheelbarrow full of plants so today hope to get lots of planting and growing on done.
Supermarkets give away or sell very cheaply the containers for their cut flowers. I managed to get hold of 24 at 99p for 8 from Morrisons. Result!! Great for herbs or growing plants on.
Found a wooden double divan bed in two halves, fabric stripped off, being thrown out. Perfect raised beds when turned upside down and lined πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
Strawberries planted and thriving. Rhubarb has been moved to higher ground.
As soon as things dry out we can crack on. Any volunteers out there?

A beautiful almost level acre of land that I acquired on the 1st August 2021, begging to be rewilded and to become a community gardening project.

It's now the 1st November 2021 and in 3 short months we have achieved so much, acquiring equipment, compost, pallets and such.
No dig beds are being constructed and planted with veggies and flowers for bees and insects. So far we have garlic, rocket, basil, radish, rhubarb, strawberries, bok wok, chives, rosemary, thyme, sage, mint and lemon balm.
Flowers are h**e, Gaura, chrysanths, nasturtiums, wildflowers for bees, echium and more.
Soft fruits are red, white and black currant bushes, grape, raspberry and blackberry. We are in the process of planting an edible hedge.

Thanks to the generosity of Councillor Carl Hawkins and Torridge District Council, we received funding ofΒ£500 to help get his project off the ground.

We have approached North Devon Biosphere for help and advice about rewilding and possibly a bit of funding in the future.

The Plot is a delightful, safe, peaceful space for anyone suffering from depression or anxiety who feels the need for a chill space and a cuppa or who want to help on the land if that appeals. Contact us and come and visit

There are still load of soft fruits, trees, willow and fruit trees to be planted. A pond is begging to be created, the orchard needs attention and effective harvesting of water needs to be done.
Seeds for spring need to be sorted, more no dig beds need to be created and the building of the shed needs to be completed.

There is a caravan on site which we use as a canteen for tea, coffee and snacks and dry seating if it's raining.

Looking forward to having you visit πŸ˜πŸ°πŸŒΏπŸ’–πŸ‘
