This 1930s property had a huge damp problem, so the homeowners came to us to find out what was going on and how it could be resolved.

Another week, another warm roof 🔨

This new dormer is being fully wrapped with high-performance insulation to create a continuous thermal layer across the entire roof.

The conversion will create more space in the existing room while bringing in plenty of natural light. Once complete, the dormer will be finished with modern standing seam metal cladding, providing a clean, contemporary appearance and durable protection from the elements.

The new warm roof will help to:

- Reduce heat loss
- Keep the room warmer in winter and cooler in summer
- Improve comfort throughout the house
- Protect the home from the elements

The original enquiry for this typical West Bridgford property was for internal insulation to improve heat loss in a specific room, alongside a number of structural and render repairs that were also needed.

During our assessment, we looked at the property as a whole and recommended externally insulating the entire home as a more beneficial approach.

This meant we could address the original heat loss problem, improve the thermal performance of the rest of the house too, and incorporate the necessary render repairs into one complete solution.

And because the repair costs were already part of the original enquiry, the additional cost of externally insulating the whole property wasn’t as far removed from the cost of internally insulating just one room as you might expect - and all without the disruption that internal insulation would have caused.

The neutral render brightens and modernises the property, while the brick-slip finish to the front retains some of the original character and features of this typical West Bridgford home.

It’s protected for the future, it looks gorgeous, and it’ll feel noticeably warmer this winter and cooler next summer. 🤩💛
