Plumbing work on commercial premises. Extension of water main to provide cellar with water supply. Main was tapped into using a reducing tee fitting. It was a rigid system with no play so a section was cut out, the tee piece made to length then installed using soldered slip fittings.

11 year old Bush front loading washing machine causing electrics to trip at Consumer Unit.

Suspected water leak or earth leakage causing this fault. Top cover removed and no sign of water leaking onto electrics. Suppressor tested for designated resistance ohm reading which was fine. Motor inspected. Signs of serious carbon build up caused by carbon brush wear. Motor removed and tested which showed an earth leakage.

To fit a new motor was not economically viable so we stripped the motor down and cleaned coils and commutator with contact cleaner then re-assembled and re-tested. Earth leakage fault now not present. Carbon dust therefore causing earth leakage as originally suspected. This in turn will cause a current surge in the motor leading to tripping of main electrics.

Washing machine re-assembled and tested. It now runs fine without causing main electrics to trip.

(Note: This could also have been the inlet valve or heating element however these were ruled out by the fact problem was present on the spin cycle.)

Ideal Logic Combi 24 gas boiler intermittent F2 fault and not igniting.

Condensate trap and pipe checked for blockages.
PCB power to gas valve, igniter and electrodes tested with multi-meter.
Gas supply ON position checked.
Gas valve tested with monometer.
Spark generator/igniter unit replaced along with ignition and flame detection electrodes.

Boiler re-set. F2 fault and intermittent problem now gone.

Removal of first floor internal wall as part of existing dormer shell extension and siting of universal beam ready for installation. Universal beam was carried manually to rear of property and hoisted up with a winch pulley system.
