Purpose of the Post : To work as a member of the housing staff team in ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the houses for people who are homeless and vulnerable. You will work 5 days out of 7

Principle Accountabilities
To ensure that all services meet Alpha Supported Housing specified standards and service levels in accordance with Alpha Supported Housing policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities :

To maintain the cleanliness of interior surfaces of Alpha Supported Housing buildings.

To ensure service users have clean linen and towels on a weekly basis.

Maintain a clean and safe environment working within all regulatory and legislative guidelines

Ensure that all services meet Urban Housing Services specified standards and service levels.

Duties:

Vacuum, polish and dust surfaces.

Ensure that all surfaces including floors, windows, skirting boards, tables, bathroom and sanitary ware and soft furnishings such as rugs, curtains, seat covers, linen and towels are clean and in good repair.

To make ready vacated rooms in the hostel for new arrivals

To issue welcome packs to service users and issue as required.

Liaise with the Support Workers for ordering of cleaning materials and ensuring female hygiene bins are regularly emptied.

Instruct Service User’s to empty waste bins from service user rooms

Empty bins around the houses required.

⁶Report to the Manager Issues concerning repairs and maintenance
To ensure that all Health and Safety rules and regulations pertaining to hygiene and cleanliness are adhered to.

To implement issues arising from Health and Safety inspections within an agreed timescale as directed by the Housekeeper and Management team.

Assist and befriend Service Users whilst maintaining professional boundaries.

Monitor the use of cleaning appliances and submit requests for further equipment purchases to the House Keeper.

Work in shift patterns.

To monitor areas of concern

Work within and promote the company’s policies and procedures

To wear correct uniform, shoes and protective gear in line with Alpha Supported Housing policies and procedures.

Adhere to all health and safety regulations.

To assist with the induction and dispersal of service users

Maintain the confidentiality of details surrounding the service users, operations, policies and procedures of the Alpha Supported Housing.

Work within all Alpha Supported Housing policies & procedures

Take on any relevant duties as required for the proper performance of the role.

Qualifications
Training in Health & Safety, COSHH, First aid, Manual Handling
Experience / Knowledge and Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Patience to deal with individuals who speak little or no English.

Providing Support:

• working with our service users in accordance with their support plans
• creating and reviewing support plans for all our users
• identifying and recommending relevant support services
• maintaining and developing relationships with our service users on a daily basis
• being able to problem solve and think on your feet whilst under pressure
• supporting service users to maintain their tenancies.

Managing Properties:

• making sure that the properties environment is to a high standard of living for the service users
• assisting service users with cleaning in the properties to ensure hygiene levels are to a high standard with all our users
• ensuring that all properties are secure and safe for our service users by physically checking keys, locks & doors.
• being able to identify maintenance work that needs to be carried out and liaising with management to ensure that properties are maintained to a high standard.
• ensuring that all policies and procedures are being followed by yourself and the service users
• collecting service charge from service users and handling cash
• ensuring that new tenants are provided with all relevant items and rooms are of good standards & also ensuring that rooms are ready & clean for new clients when clients move on
• carrying out weekly health and safety checks and ensuring the checks are done to a high standard.

Office Work:

• writing logs daily on your interactions with tenants regarding support
• completing and updating support sessions with tenants
• keeping record of service charge collections to identify users who are in arrears
• keeping fire, health & safety check logs for all your properties
• being able to do basic paperwork such as making folders for new clients, documenting them correctly, and organizing them in order
• completing starter packs with new tenants and being able to explain each document to them
• Ensuring the tenant is in receipt of benefits

Skill Set:

• being able to communicate professionally
• have good reading and writing skills
• being able to work efficiently under pressure
• having exceptional organization skills
• being reliable and trustworthy
• being able to manage time effectively

We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance person to join our existing maintenance team on a full time, permanent basis.

We are looking for a competent all rounder with a range of skills. There are 80+ houses which require work on a day to day basis, so you must be self-sufficient and able to complete work quickly and to a high standard.

We are looking for candidates that are confident and competent particularly with carpentry, and who have experience maintaining fire doors and equipment.

The skills we require include but are not limited to:

· Carpentry

· Fire door maintenance

· Electrics

· Plumbing

· Replacing Radiators

· Replacing Windows

· Plaster Boarding

· Skimming

· Gardening

Cleaning

· All General Building knowledge required as everyday a new challenge!

As stated, this role is a full-time, permanent position. Working hours are 9.00 am - 5:00 pm.
