Throughout the spring, residents watched as work progressed on the bridge decking and structural supports, transforming a weathered crossing into a sturdy, modern path.

These essential updates are designed to future-proof the link, ensuring that the bridge can safely carry the daily footsteps of commuters and explorers for many years to come. By addressing these maintenance issues now, the project has successfully avoided the risk of more permanent, unplanned closures that can often disrupt the footfall and passing trade so vital to our local independent businesses. The result is a smoother, more reliable route that makes the journey toward the Whitmore Collection canal path or the nearby Newhall Square a pleasure once again.
