From Architectural Expertise to Property Investment
After 28 years in the architectural industry, I made one of the biggest decisions for my business - change direction. In 2021, Applecore stepped away from our Archicad software and training offering, something that had been a huge part of my life for nearly three decades.
But those years were not just about software. They were about:
• Working alongside architects, developers and planning consultants
• Helping bring hundreds of projects to life
• Understanding what creates long-term value in buildings
Over time, that experience led to a simple realisation. Rather than helping others design buildings, it was a good time to invest in them.
Property investment was therefore a natural progression. After helping clients design, develop and improve buildings, I wanted to apply that experience by owning, improving and managing property myself.
The journey has also become a shared one. My wife, Nicky Berry also joined the Company so that together we could build up the property side of the business.
We have been fortunate to learn from and be mentored by Neil Stewart Ritchie Clapson Simon Zutshi and James Lynch. Each has challenged our thinking in different ways and helped shape how we approach property investment today. Thank you all for your guidance, encouragement and support it has genuinely made a real difference.
Today, Applecore Designs Limited delivers design, planning and project coordination, while Applecore Property Limited acquires and improves residential, commercial and mixed-use property.
One of our greatest strengths is the professional network we have built over 30 years. We still work closely with architects and planning consultants we have known for decades, helping us assess opportunities, solve problems, unlock value and have a clear view of both risk and potential.
We are always looking to build long-term relationships with estate agents, brokers, surveyors, architects, planning consultants, solicitors, accountants and fellow investors.
Our investment philosophy is straightforward:

We are active across the West Midlands and surrounding counties, centred around our base in Alvechurch including Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

• Mixed-use buildings
• Commercial Class E properties with residential potential
