We’re pleased to welcome Luke Baker to the team.

Luke previously had responsibility for over £6bn private markets and real estate allocation at Tesco Pension Investment, investing on behalf of Tesco’s employee pension scheme. His role encompassed investment strategy, capital deployment, portfolio construction and risk management across a diversified institutional mandate. He was previously a Fund Manager at Aviva Investors, managing its £1bn UK balanced fund alongside value-add and alternative investment strategies.

His appointment comes at an important point for the business, following the announcement of our £400m partnership with Hines and the launch of Birmingham BioCity. These milestones form part of the £4bn Birmingham Knowledge Quarter, where we are acting as a lead partner in delivering one of the UK’s most significant emerging innovation districts.

We’ve launched a new two-year partnership with .

This programme will connect students to live developments, real work environments and clear pathways into employment, ensuring investment in the city translates into real opportunities for local people. It will support students from diverse and widening participation backgrounds, including Foundation Learning students with additional learning needs and SEND, ensuring they benefit from real projects, live environments and industry exposure.

We will also support an annual student prize, alongside live briefs, site visits and industry-led sessions.

Today at MIPIM we unveiled the £90m Birmingham BioCity - the region’s first CL2 fitted life sciences hub within the £4bn Birmingham Knowledge Quarter.

It will also be the first life sciences building delivered within a UK Government Investment Zone, marking a major milestone for Birmingham’s innovation economy.

This is a significant step forward for the city and a real catalyst for the next generation of science and innovation in the West Midlands.

We’re delighted to see strong support from leaders across the private and public sectors including the CEO of Lloyds Banking Group and HS2.

Today is the last day of Mental Health Awareness Week. Every life carries meaning — and every story matters.
 
We named Mani Lane—a street in one of our developments—in memory of Mani Dulay, the younger brother of our Chief Executive, who passed away by su***de in 2016 at just 17 years old. Tomorrow, 19th May, would have been his 27th birthday.
 
His story is heartbreaking — but sadly, not uncommon. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK. Every week, over 100 lives are lost — three out of four are men.

Raise awareness, encourage conversation and remind people to check in — with themselves and with others. Too many suffer in silence.
 
We’re grateful to our friends at Sandwell Council and local councillors for supporting us in creating this meaningful tribute.
