Complex structural alterations allowed this previously dark and compartmented end terraced property in Glasgow’s south side to be opened up into a contemporary open plan kitchen space.

The project further benefited from the creation of a new utility room on ground floor level and dormer extension on the upper floor for a bedroom and en-suite.

This week we revisited a former extension project of ours in Bearsden where our client would now like to convert the loft space of the existing house. This gave us an excuse to get the drone out and take some aerial shots of the interesting zinc roof extension that we designed. The January low sun and frosty surfaces really brought the roof profile to life.

The Burnside House in Newlands, Glasgow

An existing extension to this semi-detached sandstone property was partially demolished to make way for this contemporary addition.

As well as providing some much-needed additional storage and a downstairs shower room, the main focus was the creation of a new open-plan kitchen, dining and family space.

A new connection to the garden was created by way of bi-folding doors and corner glazing, with daylighting further enhanced by a high-level window and generous rooflights above the kitchen area.
