A combination of rising deposit requirements, affordability pressures and the increasing costs of moving have all made it harder for many people to get onto, and move up, the property ladder.

At the same time, people are living in their homes for longer, which means fewer properties are coming onto the market for younger generations.

🏡 The property market slowed the week before last...

But that's exactly what happens every Bank Holiday.

Around 22,100 homes sold subject to contract across the UK in Week 21, down from the previous week, but there's no surprise there. Late May Bank Holidays almost always create a temporary dip in activity.

The bigger story remains the same.

Buyers are still buying.

But they have more choice than they've had for years.

With stock levels remaining high, buyers are comparing more properties, negotiating harder and taking their time before making decisions.

The homes that are priced correctly and marketed well are still attracting strong interest.

The homes chasing ambitious prices?

Many are simply being overlooked.

This isn't a bad market.
