From 6 October 2026, tenant protections against eviction will be strengthened under new housing reforms.

Key changes include stronger safeguards against unfair eviction, with compensation for wrongful termination ranging from 3 to 36 times the monthly rent. Where rents are lower, a minimum compensation level of £840 may apply.

These reforms are designed to improve fairness and discourage misuse of eviction grounds
