🎉🕺✨ Our team swapped their work attire for 1970s fancy dress as Julie, Senior Assistant Manager, Michaela, Client Liaison Manager, and Cheryl and Geraldine, our Relief Managers, enjoyed a fantastic 'We Love the 70s' weekend at Butlin’s Skegness!

It was a wonderful opportunity for the team to spend time together outside of work, strengthen team bonds, and enjoy a well-deserved weekend of music, dancing, laughter, and plenty of retro outfits. Events like these help build strong relationships, which ultimately benefit the warm and welcoming community we create for our residents every day.

Elaine has been part of our community for the past 9 months and loves spending time engaging with our residents, helping to create the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes The Hawthorns so special.

💙 Three words Elaine uses to describe herself: Caring, Helpful & Reliable

😊 Her colleagues would describe her as: Bubbly, Patient, and a self-confessed Caffeine Addict!

🐕 When she's not at work, Elaine enjoys walking her dogs and spending time in the garden.

🗽 Her favourite holiday destination is New York, and her proudest achievement is raising her two children and being grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren.

The Hawthorns Eastbourne Well-being Event was a blast! 🤎

Earlier this week, Eastbourne welcomed an array of well-being and health professionals from the local community to the home, providing residents with a great opportunity to chat with them and learn more about the support they offer.

In addition to neighbouring care home Alice Court Care Home - Avery Collection, they had visitors covering a range of different needs, from the likes of Sussex Footcare, Eastbourne Blind Society, Age Concern and Lushington Chropractic.

Events like these promote connection, spark interesting conversations and support our residents to live well, stay active, and feel truly connected to their local community.

On Friday, our homes took part in the nationwide Macmillan coffee morning ☕️💚

Our residents have been enjoying some wonderful coffee mornings recently, filled with plenty of delicious treats, hot drinks, and brilliant company! These events were all held to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, who provide physical, financial, and emotional support to those living with cancer.

Cancer has touched many of us throughout our lives, and is a cause particularly close to the hearts of our team and residents. We’re thrilled to support such an incredible charity, especially when it gives us a great reason to come together over coffee and cake!

Earlier this month, The Hawthorns Clevedon held a coffee morning to support Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in memory of Matthew Notely ☕️

In just 2 hours, the home managed to raise £222.74 with the help of residents, team members and visitors! Every cup of coffee, every donation and every helping hand made a difference and helped honour Matthew’s memory in such a wonderful way.

Since 1995, CRY has worked tirelessly to reduce young sudden cardiac death through awareness, screening, research, and support for every family who contact us.

We are so proud of the support and awareness the Hawthorns Clevedon has generated for such a special cause, thank you to everyone who came along 💙

Residents enjoyed getting dressed up and experiencing the glamour of the very first casino evening for our home in Braintree!

The night was made extra special by being hosted by one of Braintree's very own residents Francis. Throughout his life, Francis worked at a casino which meant he could bring his expertise to make the night feel more authentic! To further add to the realism, Francis invited some of his former colleagues to run the tables 🃏

As part of this, our chefs regularly prepare fresh desserts, and what's fresher than hand picked fruit?

Earlier this week, the chefs at The Hawthorns Braintree went pear picking from the trees in their very own garden, bringing fresh flavours straight from the garden to the table. These homegrown pears were then turned into a delicious homemade dessert, which went down a treat with our residents!

We are so proud to have nutrition as one of our priorities at the Hawthorns, with personalised meal plans catered to the nutrition needed for older generations to thrive!

The Hawthorns Eastbourne residents have been engaging in some memory games to get their minds whirring. From quizzes to brain teasers and everything in between, the group had lots of fun testing themselves and sharing quality time with one another.

We've had lots to celebrate this month! 🥳

The Hawthorns Clevedon wished a very happy 100th birthday to resident Jean, surrounded by friends, family and plenty of cake. With an upcoming weekend planned full of birthday activities especially for Jean, we are sure this will be a brilliant birthday week to remember!

The Hawthorns Braintree residents Geoff and Nicki celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. The pair met at dancing school in their early twenties, and have been inseparable ever since - they even share the same birthday!

Part of life at the Hawthorns means meeting and celebrating the many residents whose stories we are honoured to get to know and share every day. Here's to making many more wonderful memories together!

With Autumn approaching, our Northampton residents paid a visit to a local scarecrow festival! 🍁

The Hawthorns Northampton attended the Harpole Scarecrow Festival as sponsors to support the local community. This festival has been a staple in Harpole for 29 years, earning its spot as a cherished day out for Northampton families.

Residents enjoyed seeing the creativity and incredible talent from those taking part in the festival, along with indulging in the amazing food stalls!

From The Carpenters to Lonnie Donegan, Vera Lynn and lots more, the residents had an incredible time singing along to some of their favourites, and they sounded amazing whilst doing it!

Residents, family and friends gathered to marvel at some truly fantastic artwork and photography displayed by local artists, as well as some of our very own talented residents. Between browsing the vibrant local stalls and enjoying tea and cake in the bistro, it was a fantastic afternoon all around.
