A smaller but expected entry this week with the weather and many vendors on the harvest. A 90% entry of under 39kg with a stronger than expected trade. Top 10 pens of all weights breaking 410pkg. A pen of 30 texel x lambs 34kg selling at 422pkg with the next pen of 35kg at 417pkg. A pen of 31.5kg selling at 412pkg.

The small but needed entry of over 39kg topping at 411pkg for 42.5kg with the next pen of 40kg at 409pkg many more of these weights were needed and are needed going forward.

We have 2 butchers every week and our regular buyers looking for 42+kg and best bred lambs every week.

Overall, Talybont once again led the Tuesday trade.

A solid entry again this week. Despite the doom-and-gloom reports from the morning trading, the trade proved much stronger than expected.

There was a yard full of mainly sub 38kg lambs, which were very well sought after. G. Morgan sold a lovely pen of 38kg lambs at 474p/kg, followed by pens of 36kg lambs at 460p/kg and 456p/kg. The top 13 pens in the under-38kg section all sold for over 440p/kg.

Export lambs followed the same pattern, with a solid trade throughout. D.H. Morgan sold 42kg lambs at 454p/kg, while a pen of 41kg lambs achieved 451p/kg.

The heavyweight lambs certainly proved the old saying true today. Pen after pen of 46kg-plus lambs broke the £200 mark. A tremendous run of 51kg lambs sold to a top price of £222.50, averaging £217. The top 10 pens all sold for over £205, ranging from 46kg to 51kg.

Overall, Talybont once again led the Tuesday trade. There was no two-tier market with us today—just buyers who wanted our lambs.

A stronger entry of lambs today, with 592 forward under 39kg, although several pens were on the leaner side.

There was plenty of demand for well-fleshed lambs across all weight ranges, with prices regularly exceeding 460p/kg and topping at 475p/kg for 39kg, 42kg and 43kg lambs. The next best pen of 36kg lambs achieved 474p/kg, while numerous other pens broke the 470p/kg mark.

A pen of 28kg Welsh lambs sold at 456p/kg, representing an excellent return for that type.

Weight equals money, and that was certainly the story of the day. Lambs over 45kg comfortably exceeded the £200 mark, with a top price of £217.50 achieved for 50kg lambs. My advice to all vendors remains the same: keep creeping those lambs on, as extra weight continues to be rewarded.

A small entry met with a flying trade, with a fierce trade for the lighter lambs.

The top six pens all sold above 500p/kg, topping at 516p/kg for 31kg lambs, followed by 31kg lambs at 510p/kg and 32kg lambs at 509p/kg. The lighter weights were in strong demand, with buyers competing keenly for quality lots.

A small entry of lambs over 40kg topped at 471p/kg from AC Phillips for 40kg lambs. A pen of 50kg lambs from AC Phillips sold to £213.50 per head.
Many more lambs could easily have been sold to meet buyer demand today.

More lambs will be wanted going forward. Numbers nationally may just get easier certainly on the export lambs, so we advise to keep creeping lambs to get them up to 40kg.
