📢 Today marks the start of Women’s Rough Sleeping Census Week!
For the third year running, we're joining local authorities across the country to help build a clearer national picture of women’s experiences of homelessness. From previous years, we know that women may be less likely to be offered the support they need or face barriers to safely access the services which are available to men.
By taking part in the WRSC we can:
✅ Advocate for local and national change in policy and services.
✅ Improve our understanding of women’s patterns of rough sleeping.
✅ Change the way we practice meeting women’s needs better, improving their outcomes.
✅ Break down barriers for women accessing much needed support.
This week, the team will be out every day in the streets, at accommodations and hosting drop-ins, speaking to women who have experienced homelessness in Brighton & Hove in the last three months and completing an anonymous survey with them about their experiences.
The census is inclusive of all self-identifying women and non-binary people whose experiences of homelessness differ from those typically experienced by people who identify as male.
If you think you might fit this criteria, let us know and we can get in touch!
Keep an eye out this week to learn more about why the census matters so much! 💜
