How I got into property is actually quite a funny story - ALL my mates are in the trade, sparkles, chippies, plumbers, builders, bricklayers - and I tried my hand at being a little gofer, go fetch that go fetch this 🤣 But honestly these hands are not made for manual labour!
I EVEN went to college to study to become an electrician.. and wait for it… I’m colourblind, so you can guess how far I got 🤣 6 weeks in and I’m still trying to wire a plug! I was politely asked to reconsider my options and I’ve put that behind me.
I stayed interested in property regardless of my devastating set back lol, and was on RightMove every day, finding the most derelict properties I could and imagining how I’d turn them into family homes - because apparently that is the only way to make money in property (how wrong I was!)
Fast forward a few years, I’m living with some friends in a horrible run down student HMO - rats under the floorboards, the lot! There were 7 of us in there all paying a pretty penny to live there. All I could think was, how on earth is the landlord getting away with this and HOW much f*cking money is this guy making!
Our tenancy was coming to an end and this was when I thought, sod it, I could buy a place way nicer than this, charge a little bit more and the tenants would be WAY happier. So I went out there and raised investment, and bought my first HMO.
The place I bought was a family home, it didn’t need much work apart from adding an en-suite in the main bedroom.
I kept that place as a lovely little earner for about 2 years after only spending £2,000 doing it up… then sold it.
The tenants moved into a place 3 doors down and sent me a photo of the place being refurbished… the first thing they took out… The brand new en-suite 🤣 🤣
Since then I’ve bought and sold over £1.75million worth of property and have taken it up full time!
