Katie from Studio Humbug gave us her top tips for designing a room that feels unique and full of character ✨

1. Pick your hero pattern ⭐️
This is going to be the backdrop to the space, choose something that draws you in and that you genuinely enjoy looking at.

2. Incorporate a stripe! ✍️
For Studio Humbug, this is an essential step! In this room, Katie has chosen a classic stripe with colours that complement the primary pattern whilst keeping the space grounded.

3. Choose a paint colour for your woodwork 🪵
Your colour choice here is also a chance to complement and contrast with your patterns. The goal is to create a cohesive space but have fun and experiment with it.

4. Vintage and antique pieces 🪑
These add to that lived-in feel, helping to create a space that feels organically evolved. Katie here has included an antique armchair which she’s reupholstered, and a vintage chest of drawers.

5. Something personal 🧸
The finishing touch which solidifies the character and personality of the space. Photographs, memories, heirlooms that add to that timeless effect and create that sense of uniqueness.
