🏡 A new helping hand for First Time Buyers?

A new government scheme, Your First Home, has been announced to help more first-time buyers get onto the property ladder.

The proposed scheme could allow eligible buyers to purchase a new-build home with a deposit of just 2.5%, alongside a 20% government-backed equity loan. The loan will initially be interest-free.

For example, on a £230,000 home, a 2.5% deposit would be £5,750, with a potential equity loan of up to £46,000.

There will be household income and local property price caps, and the scheme will apply to participating new-build properties. Further details, including eligibility, costs and when the scheme will launch, are expected in the Autumn Budget on 28 October.

For those struggling to save a traditional 5–10% deposit, this could make an interesting difference — but there are still plenty of details to be confirmed.
