Does your living room make your heart sink? Lifeless, devoid of colour and focus? You need some colour magic! This dull room I transformed by colour blocking. ‘Framing’ the fireplace gave the room a focal point and painting the end wall made the room feel more square and less tunnel like.

Colour drenching. Not a new idea. It goes back centuries, but it’s in vogue now because it makes good decorating sense. It you want a harmonious room paint everything the same colour. It’s stops your eye jumping from one colour to another as you look round. It’s very relaxing. Especially in the bo***ir ! All panelling and painting by yours truly.

New month, new project! My client needed their 2 bed bungalow prepping for letting. This means neutralising the colour scheme and freshening up. I chose F&B Ammonite for all the walls and painted all the woodwork in brilliant white satinwood. Ammonite is great for bringing warmth and neutrality. It also reflects available light well. The property is now let. Happy client!

February make overs No.3
My third project for this Arts & Crafts house. Small and colourless, this kitchen with its old and tired woodchip paper needed a make over! Old paper off, it was relined and painted with F&B setting plaster, a gentle stony pink. It’s brings warmth to a cool north facing space.

February make overs No.2
This tiny entrance lobby in a lovely Arts & Crafts house needed some warmth bringing in! I stripped the wood chip wallpaper and (at my suggestion) relined with a gold metallic reeded paper laid horizontally and complemented with a wam stone colour for ceiling and trims. Warmth and glamour!

So off with the woodchip, I relined it with heavy duty lining paper. She wanted to make it a more dramatic space with warmth. I chose Farrow and Ball’s Bancha green as the main colour. I painted all the woodwork - doors, skirtings, trims etc in the same colour. The ceiling down to trim is a warm stone. This harmonised and calmed the space. We chose period brass beehive door k***s as finishing details. Happy Client.
