If you are walking on the Estate over the next few weeks, you may spot young roe deer resting quietly on their own in woodland or long grass.
Please don’t worry - this is completely normal. Mother deer often leave their young while they go off to feed, returning at regular intervals to care for them.
We’ve seen several roe deer births across the Estate recently, so we’re asking visitors to be mindful of these new arrivals and help keep them safe. Please keep dogs on a lead and give any young deer plenty of space.
Our Wildlife Ranger, Tom Garner, advises that if you do come across a young roe deer on its own, the best thing to do is leave the area calmly and keep disturbance to a minimum.

BASC is issuing advice to the public to be mindful of pregnant deer and their newborns while visiting the countryside this spring.
