🍂 And just like that it suddenly feels very autumnal. It’s still sunny but you can feel the season changing.

🍂 Luckily our campsite is open until the end of October, so you still have plenty of time to book a stay & enjoy all this new season offers.

🍂 The misty mornings are rolling in. You might be lucky enough to spot some resident roe deer in the big field, or maybe some red squirrels playing in the branches of the trees surrounding our sheltered walled garden.

🍂 Book now for your autumn reset 🦌🐿️🍁

I’m just back from a weekend away & it seems we’re now fully immersed in autumn 🍂

I love this time of year, though it is pretty busy as it’s birthday season. We started off with my sister last week, then me this week, followed by both my sister in laws, my niece & finally my mother in law! Poor Ed 😂

Anyway, we do have a wee but of upcoming availability in our cottages if you fancy an autumnal escape. With open fires & wood burning stoves you can cosy in or take advantage of the beaches, woods & walks on your doorstep 🍁

It amazes me that at 8 years old she can still leap up onto a bale from a standing start 🐾

Gotta love alpacas 🦙

Did you know :

🦙We’re at Mosstowie, just to the west of Elgin in Moray in the NE of Scotland

🦙 All of our Alpaca Treks are private; just you and not a group

🦙 In total, you’ll be with us for about three hours; field time learning about the alpacas, feeding and handling them, taking them for a relaxed walk on the farm, and drinking coffee (or tea!) and eating Trekkers’ Cake in our cosy bothy.

🦙 You need to book in advance and you can check availability and book at www.alpacadaysout.co.uk

🦙 Our Treks are for adults only. Three hours can be too long for youngsters. And, this is not an alpaca hugging experience !

🦙 We operate from mid March until the end of October.

🦙We’re fully signed up to the The British Alpaca Society and The British Llama Society‘s Codes of Practice for Trekking.

One of the many things that makes Kirktoun Cottage so special are the views 💛

Louise from Bide studio and myself were in today plotting some interior updates & I couldn’t help but notice how lovely the surrounding countryside is looking today.

We love working together & it’s been a while since our last project which was Barley Bank back in 2024/25.

Watch this space for updates later in the year…👀😄

I absolutely love this time of year, especially when our figs start to ripen 💜

My in-laws planted 4 fig trees around our house many years ago & they are all still flourishing. Today will be the first harvest of many this season - it looks to be a great year for them 🤩

On Friday we bid a fond farewell to Isaac who has been working in our maintenance & groundwork team for the past 1 1/2 years.

Isaac’s story really is one of perseverance! He first contacted us in 2024 asking if we had any weekend roles whilst he headed into 5th year at school. We didn’t but asked him to contact us again in 6 months time. Sure enough, he emailed again in early 2025, but unfortunately we still didn’t have anything to offer him. However, we knew with the creation of the campsite we would eventually need an extra pair of hands. After twice saying we couldn’t offer him a role I really didn’t expect to hear from him again, but sure enough, after he finished his exams he contacted us again in May 2025, and, finally, we were able to offer him a role 😊

Isaac did so well in his exams he ended up not going back for 6th year and continued to work in our team whilst saving money for uni. He proved himself to be a great member of the team. He was a real grafter & turned his hand to anything.

Our whole team met for cake last Friday to wish him all the best as he heads off to Aberdeen to study Geography. Thank you for all your hard work Isaac.

Now, go & have a brilliant time at uni 🤩

We don’t just ‘accept pets’, we welcome dogs (& their owners) 🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐩

We provide a basket in each property with dog towels, water bowl, poo bags & dog treats - just in case you’ve forgotten anything.

Our properties have fabulous walks on the doorstep and you don’t need to venture far to discover quiet sandy beaches, secluded woodland or huge forests to explore 🤩
