Smalley Court Remembers 🌺

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Some photos from our remembrance efforts, along with a poem which was found on the body of a soldier during the North African Campaign in the Second World War, via an article one of our residents came across.

Exciting News!!
Thanks to Burntwood Town Council we now also have a bleed kit in our defibrillator cabinet!

Bleed Kits are specifically designed to handle 'life threatening bleeding'. In the event of a traumatic injury, a person can lose critical amounts of blood within minutes. A bleed kit package that includes items like haemostatic dressings, trauma dressings, and a tourniquet can massively benefit a community.

Unlike defibrillators, bleed kit locations are not registered on a national network, so to ensure that residents know they are available if needed, please help by sharing this post.

Defibrillators and bleed kits are also available at the following locations around Burntwood, the codes for these can be obtained by calling 999 in an emergency:

- Methodist Church, Swan Island
- St Matthews Sports and Social Club
- Boney Hay Working Men's Club
- St John's Community Church
- Burntwood Rugby Club
- Red phone box, Ogley Hay Road
- Lariot Europe Ltd, Burntwood Business Park
- Morley Road Shopping Centre
- Grangemoor Working Men's Club
- Burntwood Memorial Community Association
- Chasewater Innovation Centre, Staffordshire Country Parks
- Ryecroft Shops
- Cameron Homes, Chasetown High Street
- Burntwood Library also have a bleed kit in a bleed kit cabinet at the front of the building next to the defibrillator, funded by Friends of Burntwood Library.

Our amazing Cleaner Hazel Wilson celebrated 10 years of working with us this week! 🥳
Hazel is more than just a cleaner though, she supports myself and residents with a smile on her face and is a huge asset to us all.
The residents showed their appreciation by having a collection and buying her some wonderful gifts.
Congratulations Hazel, you deserve it!
Here's to the next 10 years! 😂
