Whitworth has been appointed to support the external re-decoration of the historic, Grade I listed Woodbridge Tide Mill Museum, one of the earliest tide mills in the country and the last to remain operational, working for over 800 years before its closure in 1957.

Rescued and restored in the late twentieth century, the site now stands as a rare and significant example of Britain’s industrial and cultural heritage.

Bridge Cottage, a 16th-century timber-framed home in the heart of Kersey, has been reimagined with a contemporary yet sensitive extension.

A vaulted, double-gabled design now links the home to a new studio, while floor-to-ceiling glazing floods the space with natural light.

This has resulted in a seamless connection between old and new, creating a stunning open-plan kitchen-dining space with views of the beautiful gardens.

A piece of history, carefully restored.

River House, a Grade II* listed building in Kersey, had stood empty for 25 years before our team worked on its sensitive restoration. From unveiling 17th-century wall paintings to conserving its remarkable Tudor porch and maltings structure, we ensured this iconic property was brought back to life as a family home without losing its heritage.

Inside and outside 🪟

Details were considered throughout this Suffolk farmhouse to ensure that the completed project was sympathetic to the original house, while providing those expected modern touches. This can be seen in the detail of the fit out and specification of finishes and external works undertaken to provide a fully complete house.

We secured planning permission for a two story building in November 2020 and construction was completed in September 2022. The building is constructed from a timber frame with cedar cladding to the external walls and a slate roof which incorporates solar panels on both sides to contribute towards the building’s energy requirements.
