People sometimes assume booking direct is more complicated than Airbnb.

It isn’t.

Go to thegatheringhousebuxton.co.uk. Check the calendar. DM or email to hold your dates — I’ll keep them for 24 hours while you confirm with the group, no payment required. Then confirm and pay when everyone’s ready.

That’s it.

The price is lower than Airbnb. Check-in is 3pm instead of 4pm. Checkout is 11am instead of 10am. And you get direct communication with me rather than a platform message thread.

Same house. Fewer steps. Better price.

thegatheringhousebuxton.co.uk — or DM me directly. I’ll hold your dates while the group catches up.

There’s a particular type of group accommodation in the Peak District. Stone farmhouse, stunning views, utterly remote. And by evening three, someone is doing a 25-minute drive each way every time the group wants wine, a meal out, or just not to cook.

Buxton is different.

It’s a market town. Victorian architecture, the Opera House, Pavilion Gardens. Pubs and restaurants on foot. The trails start ten minutes from the door — Solomon’s Temple, the Cat & Fiddle road — and the town is still there when you come back.

Nobody has to be the driver. Nobody has to choose between the walk and the evening out. Both are just ten minutes away.

Book direct at thegatheringhousebuxton.co.uk — lower price than Airbnb, check-in at 3pm, I’ll hold your dates 24 hours while you confirm with the group.

I came across this on a walk in Cannock…
and genuinely thought:

“is that it?”

It was a nice day.
I wanted to stretch my legs on the way down south.
But the whole time I was walking I just kept thinking—

this is why I love the Peak District.

The drama.
The views that actually stop you.
The feeling like you’ve gone somewhere.

Not just… flat paths and a bit of water.

And if you’re planning a trip with friends?
That difference matters more than you think.

Because the walk is the plan.
The views are the moment.

And everything else — the house, the food, the chats after —
just builds around that.

If you’re going to do a walking weekend…
do it properly.

If you’ve ever organised a trip for a group…
you already know the bed situation matters.

Someone snores.
Someone wakes up at 6am.
Someone insists they’re “fine with the sofa.”

(They’re not fine with the sofa.)

That’s why one of the first things I made sure of when creating The Gathering House in Buxton was this:

✔ 6 proper bedrooms
✔ Sleeps 12 comfortably
✔ No sofa beds

Because when everyone sleeps properly, the whole trip feels better.

If you’re planning a reunion, walking weekend or friends’ trip to the Peak District, this is the detail that makes it work.

Sleeps 12.
Six bedrooms.

Because birthday weekends should involve wine —
not bedroom negotiations.

The Gathering House is group accommodation in Buxton built for women’s reunions, milestone birthdays and “we’re doing this properly” energy.

No bunks.
No sofa beds.
No passive-aggressive room swaps.

Book direct.

Ever heard of FIBI?

It’s what happens when you finally find a house that actually works for the group.

Because “sleeps 12” can mean a lot of things.

Sometimes it means:
• sofa beds
• shared rooms
• someone drawing the short straw

And sometimes it means six proper bedrooms.

Real beds.
Doors that close.
Everyone sleeping properly.

That’s when the decision becomes easy.

FIBI.

(Sorry mum for the language 😳)

Morning tea tastes better when everyone slept properly.

One of the hidden problems with booking for a large group is that “sleeps 12” doesn’t always mean twelve proper beds.

Sometimes it means sofa beds.
Sometimes it means shared rooms.

A house with six proper bedrooms changes the whole dynamic.

Everyone gets a real bed.
Everyone wakes up rested.

Sleeps 12 properly.

This is the part where the organised ones move.

Right now there’s:

• 1 weekend left in March
• 1 weekend left in April
• 1 weekend left in May

That’s it.

Spring is peak time for:

• reunion weekends
• milestone birthdays
• wedding guest stays
• Peak District walking breaks

And large houses in Buxton don’t wait for the group chat to reach consensus.

If you’re organising for 6–12 adults, you already know how this goes:

Someone disappears.
Someone says “either weekend works.”
Someone suggests pushing it back a month.

Meanwhile, the good dates quietly go.

Secure the weekend.
Refine the guest list later.

That’s how the calm organisers do it.

If one of those dates might work for your group, check availability now — or message me and I’ll tell you exactly what’s realistic.
