Visit Treshnish

Visit Treshnish A warm welcome awaits guests in our unique eco-cottages and shepherd's hut on a special island farm The farm is managed to protect and enhance biodiversity.

Our 8 unique eco-friendly farm cottages are located on a beautiful and dramatic peninsula not far from Calgary Beach, on the Isle of Mull, often described as the wildlife capital of the UK. We are open all year round. The cottages sleep between 2 and 6. Small scale renewables and masses of insulation help reduce our carbon footprint - wind & solar power, biomass boiler. We are proud to hold a Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award.

Join us for the opening of the exhibition
’Hiding in Plain Sight’
which invites you to consider our natural and constructed places, unseeable by the human eye, yet all around us.
The photographs of Carolyne Mazur and drawings and paintings of Daniel Freytag represent both actual and imagined locations, and enable us to reflect upon the tracks we humans create on the places we love.

Now with added WiFi!!!

It was a huge move in 2006 when electricity came to Haunn. We didn’t want the unique atmosphere in the blackhouses to change so we kept them simple. No microwaves, no TVs, no dishwashers. If guests wanted more they could choose one of the Treshnish cottages. At that time we had people telling us putting electricity down to Haunn would ruin it….

When in 2018 we finally picked up mobile phone signal we installed WiFi in Toechtamhor but not in East, Middle and West. Keeping it digital detox. There was a WiFi connection in the Hub at the farm for guests to use, along with washing machine and a library of books.

I liked the fact that guests could make a deliberate choice to be connected or not.

Fast forward to 2026 and we want to install a car charger outside Middle Cottage for which we need internet connection.

So with a slightly sinking heart here we are with WiFi in East, Middle and West. I am sure some guests will wish we hadn’t done it, but I hope the majority of guests will appreciate the choice to be connected - or not. You can always turn your devices to Airplane mode. And there are still no microwaves, dishwashers or TVs.

The Haunn car charger will be installed next winter. In the meantime we have 2 available for any guests to use at the farm.
