***Back from two days at the Development Trusts Association Scotland in Glasgow.
Went for South Kintyre Development Trust, and spent a lot of time talking for Diamond Vault CBS Information Open Day and Community Regeneration CIC as well. Different organisations, same town, same aim — keep Campbeltown and South Kintyre moving.
Heard a lot that we can use: community shares, looking after old buildings properly, not taking on more than we can run, and funders who actually want to talk before you apply.
The picture we kept describing is a whole-town one — reuse, bikes, heritage walks, tourism and local enterprise pulling in the same direction.
Thank you to everyone who stopped for a conversation. We will follow up.

Great open information day, plenty of feedback as well to pull together. Thank you all who took time out of their day to pop in and give your views and see what we have been up to. There will be more to follow!!

Plans to bring empty and deteriorating Campbeltown town centre properties back into use have taken another step forward, as the community group behind the initiative prepares to pursue funding to acquire its first buildings.

***Update***

Stage 1 Land Fund Success

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have been offered a £17,850 development grant from the Scottish Land Fund for "Our Town, Our Future: The Campbeltown Regeneration Initiative"! The local property market moves fast, and while our original target at 61-63 Longrow was recently sold to a private buyer, we haven't missed a beat. We have officially pivoted our plans, and our new acquisition target is 97 Longrow (Podunk). To be clear on where we are in the process: this Stage 1 funding is not to buy the building just yet. It specifically funds the essential feasibility work, business planning, and independent building and valuation surveys. This step is vital to ensure the project's financial viability before we submit our Stage 2 application to actually acquire the property. We have had fantastic support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise in these early stages which has been a massive help. Our dual-team approach is locked in: Diamond Vault CBS leads the acquisition to permanently protect the building for the town, while Kintyre Community Regeneration CIC stands ready to drive the future physical refurbishment and daily operations .A massive requirement for the next stage is showing strong community backing, so stay tuned for upcoming consultation events! The hard work continues, but we are one giant leap closer to breathing new life into Longrow.

Not Long to go now! Jeez closer when you say next Thursday. Anyway a number of people have been asking "What is it about" and certainly the relationship between Diamond Vault CBS and Kintyre Community Regeneration CIC. Basically Diamond Vault aims to acquire the properties, refurbish and bring back into use (Using Grants, lottery heritage and possibly Community shares) and holds the Assets SAFE. The other KCR CIC manages, rents out, manages contractors etc the day to day running, the legwork, hard work. 51% of the Members have the majority and are ultimately in control Now if anyone at all has any questions, wants information, answers anything at all please do not hesitate to pop in to 2 Longrow South Keeping it Local CIC and I will be happy to help.
