Another project secured for the Harwood team. 🤝

We’ll be working with Magrock to provide building control services for South Mimms X, a new 122,820 sq ft logistics and industrial development at Charleston Paddocks, South Mimms.

Developed by Wrenbridge in partnership with Railpen, the scheme is now under construction and is due for completion in Spring 2027.

Located at the junction of the M25 and A1(M), the development will provide high-spec logistics space alongside Grade A offices, extensive yard and loading facilities, EV charging and dedicated staff amenity areas.

Sustainability is also central to the project, with the scheme targeting BREEAM Outstanding, EPC A+ and net-zero carbon performance, alongside a 30% biodiversity net gain.

We’re looking forward to supporting Magrock and the wider project team with our building control expertise as the development progresses.

🏆🏏 Congratulations to St Lawrence & Highland Court on being crowned Kent Cricket League Premier Division champions, following a hard-fought 19-run home win over Blackheath.

This is a fantastic achievement and the club’s first Kent League Premier Division title since 2007 – a testament to the commitment, consistency and teamwork shown throughout the season.

The 1 October Building Safety Levy deadline is fast approaching.

For residential developments already moving through design, there may still be an opportunity to submit before the new levy comes into force.

Doing so could provide:

🟩 Potential to avoid the levy charge
🟩 Greater certainty over project costs
🟩 Help maintain project momentum

With only a few weeks remaining, developers should be reviewing eligible schemes now and considering whether an earlier submission is achievable.

As the Building Safety Levy gets ever closer to coming into force on 1 October 2026, the Home Builders Federation (HBF) has released research showing that the majority of housebuilders feel the new levy will do more harm than good.

36% of respondents said that they have already delayed, redesigned or cancelled some of their schemes in anticipation of the Building Safety Levy.

As the change comes ever closer, now is a good time for developers to review projects in the pipeline and consider whether Building Regulations applications can be progressed ahead of the deadline.

Submitting before 1 October could help provide greater cost certainty and potentially avoid the additional levy charge, but preparing a complete and coordinated application takes time.
