The RPA has now published their Key dates document for the Basic Payment Scheme and Countryside Stewardship.

Key dates to note;
18th March - BPS application window and CS/ES Revenue Claims Submission period opens
17th May - BPS 2021 applications and CS/ES Revenue Claims Deadline

Applications for Countryside Stewardship Grants with a 1 January 2022 start date will be going live from 9th February 2021.

There will be various changes this year, one of which is the lift on the cap of funding for Capital Grants from £10,000 to £20,000.

As ever, early engagement is vital, especially were CSFO approval is required.

If you haven't seen it already, DEFRA have recently published 'The Path to Sustainable Farming: An Agricultural Transition Plan 2021 to 2024'.

In short, BPS will be phased out over the next 7 years with a new approach focused on paying farmers and land managers to produce public goods and providing grants to help improve farm productivity. As ever, the devil will be in the detail (of which there is little currently).
