🔨🏡 ANOTHER GREAT WEEK ON OUR BIG RENOVATION! 🏡🔨

This week started with what can only be described as a giant oak jigsaw puzzle 😂🧩

But what a result… an absolutely stunning bespoke oak staircase, installed with literally millimetres to spare. 😅👌 It’s going to be a real feature of this property once everything is finished.

It was also NEW TOOLS DAY for the joiners 🛠️ — which meant we could get straight into making our own bespoke MDF feature wall panels on site.

No hanging around either… the decorators jumped straight on them with the undercoating and priming, followed by a cracking colour choice:

And it looks 👌🔥

Meanwhile, the rest of this huge renovation continues moving forward and every week we’re getting closer to seeing months of structural work, first fixes and preparation turn into the finished home.

And just to finish the week off nicely…

The boss has been out on a site visit for another major project 👀

A large rebuild and transformation of existing garages into bespoke Airbnb accommodation out in the Lake District. 🏡⛰️

If this one comes together, it’s going to be MEGA.

🔨 Another fast-paced week for the CMR Developments team! 👷‍♂️

It’s been another week of juggling multiple projects, and we’re really pleased with the progress across all our sites.

🏡 Major Renovation
A huge milestone reached this week…
✅ Underfloor heating is fully installed.
✅ The entire downstairs has now been screeded and self-levelled.
⏳ Now it’s simply a case of letting everything dry before moving on to the next stages.

🚗 Garage Conversion
Another project flying along…
✅ Structural steel installed.
✅ Roof structure complete.
✅ First fix electrics completed.

A big thanks to Electrical for another top job. We even managed to lend them our apprentice for a day… although we’re not entirely convinced it sped things up! 🤣 Judging by the holiday photos, we think the apprentice may have funded the sparkie’s getaway! 🍻✈️

🏠 Rear First Floor Extension
Unfortunately, this is another project where we’ve been called in to rectify poor workmanship left behind by previous builders.

So far we’ve had to:
❌ Strip all plaster from the walls and ceilings.
❌ Remove the very little insulation that had been installed.
❌ Install wall ties… because they had somehow been forgotten. 🤦‍♂️
❌ Remove the roof/floor structure that had been built using 3x2 timber.

To put it right, we’ve strengthened the floor with double 6x2 timbers throughout to achieve the required structural loading.

The electrics have now been completely first fixed again by Electrical… this time without our apprentice slowing him down! 😂

Next up:
➡️ Building Control inspection.
➡️ Thermal insulated plasterboard to achieve the required U-values.
➡️ Plastering and second fix.

And finally…

🎉 We also received confirmation this week that CMR Developments has been appointed as the chosen contractor for another major refurbishment, due to start later this year!

We honestly can’t thank our clients enough for continuing to trust us with their homes and projects. The support, recommendations and repeat business mean everything to us.

📸 We’ve been a little quiet on social media recently… and for good reason! 🛠️

The last couple of weeks have been incredibly busy for the whole CMR Developments team, with multiple projects progressing at once. We just wanted to give everyone a quick update on what we’ve been up to!

🏡 Our major renovation just outside Carlisle is making fantastic progress:
✅ All 4 bedrooms completed, decorated and ready for carpets.
✅ 1 main bathroom and 2 en-suites fully completed.
✅ All downstairs plastered, mist coated and painted.
✅ Second fix electrics well underway, with the new consumer boards being fitted next week.
✅ The entire downstairs has now been insulated, tracked out and screeded ready.
✅ Underfloor heating pipework has been installed, connected to the manifold and is now ready for the main screed pour next week.

As if that wasn’t enough…

🚗 We’ve also started another garage conversion! Last picture is the design of what it will look like
In just one week we’ve completely stripped it out, formed the new roof structure, and it’s now ready for the structural steel installation on Monday. After that it’s straight into first fix electrics and foundation works.

It’s weeks like these that remind us how lucky we are to have such an incredible team, trusted subcontractors and fantastic clients.

❤️ We’d also like to apologise if we’ve been a little slower than usual replying to messages, enquiries or quotations. Our diary is now fully booked until January 2027, and we’re doing our very best to get back to everyone as soon as we can between running sites.

🏡🔨 Our Big Renovation is Flying Along! 🔨🏡

What a difference a few weeks can make. We’re absolutely delighted with the progress being made on this amazing renovation project, and it’s all down to the hard work of some fantastic trades.

✔️ All first-fix electrics completed thanks to JL electrical ⚡

✔️ All upstairs plastering completed 👌

✔️ All first-fix plumbing completed thanks to MD Engineering Services 🚿

✔️ Downstairs stonework completed by our own lads 🪨

✔️ New windows fitted throughout

✔️ All downstairs studwork completed

✔️ Ceilings battened out and plasterboarded, ready for the next phase of plastering

And to top it all off, we’ve even managed to get the decorators upstairs applying the mist coat a full week ahead of schedule 🎨💪

Massive thanks to everyone involved so far. This project has required a huge team effort, and it’s great to see everything coming together exactly as planned.

As promised… if everyone keeps us on programme and we continue hitting our targets, we’ll all be booking that company skydive! 🪂😂

Loads more progress to come over the next few weeks as this incredible property continues its transformation.

Our large renovation is in full swing! 🔨🏡

Plenty happening on site and it’s all starting to come together:

✔️ Stone, stone and more stone — prepped, faced and laid 🪨
✔️ Utility floor ripped up, prepped and ready for pipework and concrete
✔️ All supports and acrows removed — steels now fully in and set
✔️ Window openings cut and ready for installation

Next week is all about:

✔️ Studwork going in

We’re right on track and really happy with the progress so far 💪

Back to the boss’s roots this week… sandstone work 🪨🔨

Sorting, facing, prepping and building with random sandstone — just like being a teenager again…
only now with the knees of a pensioner 😂

If there’s any builders looking for a bit of gap-filling work, more than welcome to jump in 💪

Great progress across a few of our projects this week! 🔨🏡

On one job:
✔️ Kitchen installed — and it’s looking spot on 👌
✔️ Floors down in the kitchen and hallway
✔️ Doors trimmed and re-hung
✔️ Bathroom underway (photos to follow 👀)

We’ve also been testing out some new GRP roofing on a small flat roof — could this be the next system we roll out on more of our jobs? 🤔
