There’s something rather special about Arnside at this time of year.

The summer crowds have gone, the paths are quieter and the changing autumn light across the Kent Estuary can be spectacular.

It’s a lovely time for a walk up Arnside Knott, a wander along the promenade, or simply a coffee overlooking the estuary while watching the tide come in.

We might be biased, but autumn is one of our favourite times of year here.

Some mornings at The View start exactly like this…

Open the shutters, make a coffee and watch the Kent Estuary come to life.

The tide changes the view constantly — sometimes water almost filling the estuary, sometimes vast stretches of sand, with the viaduct, distant fells and plenty of birdlife beyond.

It’s one of the reasons we never tire of the view from the apartment.

Slow mornings. Sea air. Space to breathe.

And nowhere you particularly need to be.

One of the best things about staying in Arnside is that you don’t need to get in the car to find a great walk.

Arnside Knott rises immediately behind the village, with paths through woodland and across limestone grassland leading to some wonderful views over Morecambe Bay, the Kent Estuary and towards the Lakeland fells.

You can walk from the promenade, head up onto the Knott and be back in Arnside afterwards for a coffee, drink or something to eat.

For us, that’s one of Arnside’s great attractions — proper countryside and wonderful views, without having to plan an expedition.

A Small Upgrade, But A Much More Usable Space

We’re always looking for little ways to make The View even better for our guests.

This week we’ve upgraded the en-suite wash basin. The previous basin looked neat, but in everyday use it was a little too small — especially for things like washing properly or having a shave.

So, we’ve replaced it with a larger version of the same Duravit basin, keeping the clean look of the bathroom while making the space much more practical and comfortable to use.

It’s a subtle change, but exactly the kind of detail we think makes a stay feel easier and more enjoyable.

Many thanks to Tony Farrell for doing such a great job for us - in the limited time we had between guests.
