After more than six years of homelessness — sleeping rough and relying on friends for occasional shelter — one woman’s life took a remarkable turn when she was referred to Paramount.⁣

When she was first identified, she was extremely unwell, struggling with unmanaged diabetes and the long-term impact of substance misuse. Following an abusive relationship and the loss of her home, her benefits had been stopped, leaving her without any financial support. For years, she survived solely through public kindness and resilience.⁣
⁣
Once she was referred to Paramount, she was supported into one of our safe, high-quality properties. From that moment, everything began to change. With a stable home and ongoing support, her benefits were reinstated, her healthcare needs were addressed, and she finally had the foundation to start rebuilding her life.⁣

Today, she is thriving — managing her diabetes, gaining strength, and feeling hopeful about the future.⁣

Tilly has been a valued member of our Customer Service Team for a year while completing her apprenticeship. She has grown immensely in confidence, phone management, administrative duties, and day-to-day tenant support.⁣

Her dedication recently paid off with a Distinction in her coursework—an achievement we are incredibly proud of. Tilly chose a Housing apprenticeship to make a difference in people’s lives, and she has embraced this responsibility wholeheartedly. Every day, she develops new skills, takes on more responsibility, and grows both personally and professionally.⁣

📚 Supporting Bobbie’s Ambition⁣
Bobbie has recently started a Level 4 Certificate in Housing through the Chartered Institute of Housing—a qualification she has long aspired to. ⁣

This Level 4 qualification, equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree, deepens knowledge of the housing sector and equips professionals with the advanced skills needed for effective housing management. We are thrilled to support Bobbie as she takes this next step in her career!⁣

As we mark the 16 Days of Activism, it’s important to remember one fundamental truth: domestic abuse can affect anyone. Any gender. Any age. Any background. Any profession.⁣
⁣
Too often, people suffer in silence because they think they won’t be believed, or because abuse doesn’t fit the stereotypes we’ve been conditioned to expect. But abuse isn’t always visible — and it doesn’t discriminate.⁣
⁣
✨ What we can all do:⁣
• Challenge harmful myths that normalise abusive behaviour⁣
• Promote safe, supportive environments⁣
• Know the signs — isolation, control, financial restrictions, intimidation, or sudden changes in behaviour⁣
• Share resources so people know where to turn⁣
⁣
At Paramount, we understand that awareness alone isn’t enough. Action matters. That’s why we have our own support team who can listen, guide, and help signpost anyone affected by domestic abuse to the right services.⁣
