When the church clock stopped, we stepped up!

Never ones to shy away from a challenge, our 50plus team were called in after a local church found their historic clock had suddenly gone silent.

A clock specialist had already checked the mechanism and discovered the issue was deeper — no power in the belfry.

So, we sent one of our electricians up the ladder. After a careful climb into the belfry, he traced the fault all the way back to… a poor connection in the vestry. One fix later, the clock was ticking proudly again.

Before we dash off for mince pies and questionable jumpers, we wanted to send you a big, sparkly thank you We’ve loved swooping in to fix the taps, tame the electrics, and rescue those “I’ll get to it one day…” jobs. You’re the reason we do what we do.

We’re taking a short festive breather, with the office closing at 11:00am on Wednesday 24th December and reopening on Friday 2nd January.

We’re already gearing up for 2026: more plumbing puzzles, electrical adventures, and handyman heroics. Think of us as your home’s personal pit crew — always ready, always cheerful, and always hoping you don’t need us too often.

Staying Safe After Dark – A Bright Idea from the 50plus Team 🌟
Now that the clocks have gone back and evenings are drawing in earlier, we’ve taken a moment to think about our own safety—just like we encourage our customers to do.

We noticed one area outside our office was a bit too dark for comfort. Rather than run power cables and dig up the ground, we turned to the sun! ☀️ We’ve installed modern solar-powered lights with motion sensors.

They light up only when someone walks by—keeping things safe, energy-efficient, and cost-free to run.

Today’s solar lighting is incredibly reliable. As long as the panel sees the sun, you can light up garden paths, driveways, or back entrances—no electrician needed.

💥 Two tough jobs, one unstoppable team 💪

This week, our long-time client Potter and Ford Commercial called with an urgent issue: a collapsed retaining wall caused by overgrown Ivy and Buddleia—and it was holding up a lease signing 😬

Cue the dream team: 🌿 RMC Equipment cleared the vegetation 🧱 Builders tore down the unstable wall and rebuilt it from the ground up

Fast, clean, and solid. Brilliant work all around 👏

And just when we thought we could breathe… a landlord rang about a nasty smell under the floorboards. Suspected rat. Our team got stuck in, lifted the boards, and on the second go—found the culprit. Smell gone. Tenant happy. Job done ✅
