The changes are part of the government's new lockdown measures which come into place from Wednesday.

At present we are inspecting empty properties and also some occupied ones, using the following measures:

- Fresh PPE is used on arrival and disposed of on completion.

- We operate a low contact method where we ask the occupier to have opened doors and cupboards as necessary prior to our arrival.

- We survey the property more quickly by taking in the region of 150-200 photographs and less notes, then survey it further from notes at the home office.

- We only inspect one property in a single day and practice suitable isolation away from work.

- I have not been in contact with anyone with symptoms, but would cancel immediately if this became the case.

- I survey the property using safe distancing, where the occupier can go on their exercise, grocery run or remain in a separate part of the property or garden while I am surveying.

- I do not use my assistant at the moment, to further reduce risk.

We also ask that occupiers advise us in advance if they have high risk persons present or have any history of contact with this illness, so that a suitable risk assessment is possible.

Really interesting to be inspecting a Grade II Listed Building dating back as far as 1590. Used by Oliver Cromwell's troops and since visited by the Queen and the Iron Lady!
