September is a lovely excuse to rediscover one of Chester’s quieter riverside spots. 🌿🐾

For this month’s local pick, head to The Meadows beside the River Dee. This mix of grassland and wetlands sits just across the river from Grosvenor Park and can be reached on foot via the Queen’s Park Suspension Bridge.

It’s a great place for an easy stroll, a little wildlife spotting or simply some time by the water. Keep an eye out for greenfinches and linnets around the grassland, while frogs and smooth newts can be found in the wetter areas. The landscape is intentionally kept fairly natural, so expect more of a countryside feel than a formal park.
