Started from the bottom, now I'm here.

7th August 2004, I was invited to be a volunteer as a Ticket Inspector for my birthday at a place I instantly became attached to and never looked back.

And 17 years later, 7th August 2021 was my first solo day as a passed out Steam Driver.

After some heavy consideration. Everyone involved at the MMR had decided to remove the 5" track and replace it with a 2ft demonstration line in order the enchance the railway.

Thanks to a recent acquisition, I was finally able to test the track with a sort of ride on wagon, there were quite a few outtake videos in the lead up to this one to say the least! Including falling on my rear with the wagon leaving me behind 😂

Here at the MMR, we hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a preposterous New Year wherever you spent it and hope you all kept safe.

We have outlined our plans and targets set out for 2021:

🛤 The track laying will conclude by the end of January.

🚂 The Simplex "Harry Hunt" will return to service from its overhaul between end of January to late February.

🚃 Our stock will be expanded with the addition of in house coaching stock and wagon stock.

📆 We plan to host an open day in late Spring, and or mid Autumn. Will provide more updates to this closer to the time. (Subject to change)

HARRY HUNT UPDATE

Thanks to Thompson Locomotive Engineering, our steam loco 'Harry Hunt' has commensed its overhaul and repaint. As seen in the images, a strip is underway to ensure there isn't any other issues regarding ones we know of already and it all seems to be in perfect shape!

Pleased to announce that our fencing work is complete with the start of new projects now underway.

The first phase of track laying and testing will commense as early as next week, and to be concluded by January 2021.

Interested in giving a hand? Please message us and we will arrange something, COVID measures will be in place if you are not in our support bubbles. Maximum of four people on site including us.
