It’s been a proper “handyman” few days, fitting radiator covers (had to alter the brackets), lots of pictures, house signs, painting a hall-stairs-landing, installing smoke detectors, tv brackets and cutting down a fence panel to fit!

This couple had recently moved into a 1930’s house where a previous owner had “boarded out” the loft to create extra space. unfortunately they’ve fitted a non-breathable membrane behind the plasterboards, so with the difference in temperature between the cold roof tiles and the warm air in the house it created condensation on the inside of the plastic sheets which caused damp and mould on the inside face! The couple couldn’t afford to have it all replaced so I’ve fitted numerous vent grilles to allow a flow of air through the boards and sheets into the roof space. Hopefully this will help.

Nice weather for fitting 25m2 of laminate flooring into this outdoor building, including matching trim and door threshold. The armoured cable was a little tricky to deal with but I’m pleased with the end result and the customer can now set up her “working from home” office

Love to up-cycle stuff! I needed to fit a cover over this drain to stop loose gravel from dropping in and a large plastic cover would interfere with the storage shed going back into the space. I had an old “food bin” which wasn’t need so used the lid to create a cover. The green bucket is also just the right size to hold my 9” paint roller sleeves 👍 🤓

From problem, to design, to manufacture, to preparation, to install and solution. Sometimes people need someone to sort out an issue which other “trades” don’t want to touch or is to small or too different for them, that’s where your friendly local Handyman comes in. I sometimes have sleepless nights or worry about if I can do a job, but it’s a great feeling when I finish the project and the customer is happy. I’m looking forward to more challenges in 2024

As we move forward into 2023, you maybe thinking about getting out into the garden and what you can do to add fresh look or tidy things up.
I’m happy to offer bespoke or traditional items such as picnic benches, log stores, small areas of decking or patios etc. Give me a shout soon though as I’m now booking work in for July.

These slatted fence panels from Worcester Timber Products Ltd are well made, substantial and look good alongside H section timber posts (rather than standard square posts).

Making a bespoke door for a garden Tiki Hut, including adapting a Suffolk Latch so it will fit through the thickness of the door. The original structure was out of plum in both directions so I had to make a frame which was square to hang the door from.
