What makes it so special? We find that no matter what our problems may be, once we are in the peaceful valley we are at ease. The station is well off the main road so it is quiet. It truly is like stepping back fifty years. My daughter loves the butterflies in summer and skimming stones in the nearby river Dee. My wife enjoys the garden, the great pub nearby and the clean air. ot help but stop what I am doing and rush to see the grand old trains. We have put a lot of love in to this property and you will enjoy sharing some of our treasured possessions such as the Pullman chair and the tick of the station clock. Sir William's McAlpine tank engine was the star performer on his Fawley Hill railway. It was his chance remark to my wife, Qiuying that hastened the completion of a sister McAlpine engine. 'I'm looking forward to seeing our old No. 88 steam again' he said. 'Was that its' number?' She asked. 'It was when it was ours' Bill replied.

Being Chinese Qiuying believes 8 to be a lucky number and 88 double luck so she backed my efforts and made a major financial commitment to what we knew as Nidd Valley Railway's 'Illingworth/Mitchell'. Sadly too late to meet sister loco at Fawley, something Bill was looking forward to.

He will be so much missed for his encouragement and support for many projects.
