With the World Cup in full swing, most conversations today will probably be about football rather than finance.
But there was one announcement today (Thursday 18 June) that could affect local homeowners and buyers.

The Bank of England has decided to hold interest rates @ 3.75%.

It won't dominate the national news for long, but it is likely to be the biggest property story of the day.

The market continues to move in the right direction - the past couple of weeks have been very busy with several open houses with more to come this weekend.

At Walter & Mair, compared to the same week last year:

๐Ÿ“ˆ New buyer registrations up 292%

Looking at the year so far, the trend is equally encouraging.

From 1 January to 14 June, compared to the same period in 2025:

๐Ÿ“ˆ Offers received up 71%
๐Ÿ“ˆ Buyer registrations up 46%

We spend a lot of time analysing local data rather than relying on national headlines, and what we're seeing is a market with more buyers viewing homes, more offers being made and more people registering to move than this time last year.
